Grace Brothers has to close for two weeks for renovations, at a most inopportune time for the staff. When Mr. Rumbold's suggestion of inconvenience money of £5 per head (not per day, for the entire two weeks) doesn't cut it for the staff, he suggests that the staff take their vacations via Mr. Grace's travel agency, and all expenses will be paid. The staff convenes in the boardroom to go over destinations, but none of them look too appealing. One star hotels, nightly bingo, outdated facilities (including one "extensively modernized in 1943") and other horrible itinerary details abound, though a couple of them do strike Mr. Humphries' fancy. But the staff is still deadlocked on where to go and what to do....
