Default Original Set or Props

Does anyone know if there are any parts of the original set or props still remaining somewhere out there?

I'd heard they were all chucked when the show ended.

BasilBjr hit the nail on the head. Except that John Inman had already gotten away with the sweater he wore on the show with something embroidered on the front. I remember what it was. It said W.C. Humphries .

It would be so cool to own some of the original set/props. Even just a tape measure or piece of chalk...or one of Mrs. Slocombe's wigs!

I'd like to have Mr. Grainger's striped blazer from The Old Order Changes - the one that led Mrs. Grainger to suspect that he'd pulled someone from the mixed bowls team.

That's too bad. It unfortunate that they didn't keep anything even to sell like a lot of production companies do. They had that set for a very long time while the show was in production... I wonder if anyone else walked away with anything.

I think one of the make up staff made off with a purple wig. I read about it in one of the PBS books. She said she took it home and later she found her cat was sleeping on it.

As fast as some of them wrote, I bet it was mostly scribbles and maybe the occasional sarcastic/profane word just to play a joke on others.

The BBC kind of sucked in the past. They were more structured in my opinion like public television. They didn't think about profit, just what fit in the budget. After its over chuck it in the bin.

I would have liked pussy boots.

I would have liked the Cami Shirt display dummy...I'd put it in the window facing my trashy neighbor's house and let it do its thing.

I keep thinking of owning the "I Like it" robot from "50 Years On." Yes it's a bit creepy but it makes me laugh

Well, the BBC isn't made of money like some of the USA companies for one thing. So I am sure a lot of the props went to other productions and the things not useable were chucked out unfortunately. I am sure somewhere in some production other parts of the AYSB sets has appeared we just don't recognize them as they have been painted. Clothing is likely the only survivor that is likely in the BBCs production costume wearhouse.

Even today US productions toss out a lot of what the don't need any more. There just isn't space to keep it and there is no guarntee someone will want it.
