I'm sure there are other examples, and I can't help but think her choice of hair color in those episodes was deliberate.
I think it's absolutely deliberate. Wigs and clothes would have both been done by the Wardrobe Dept, and since they were shooting on a shoestring that was probably just one person. Blue dress, blue wig, easy decision.

In the Royal visit episode she has red, white and blue hair, doesn't she?

That's funny; I thought the same thing, but when I went back to watch the episode, it isn't red, white, and blue; it's just blue.

Huh. Well, I know she's red, white and blue in some episode.

Red, that awful dress she wears probably overwhelmed our vision.

Mrs Slocombe has Multi-Colored Hair in Two Episodes. The one we want is not Calling All Customers.

This is from the other episode. I don't recall which one it is. Greg will know it.

She's got tri-coloured hair in the episode that starts off with the shop in darkness, hasn't she? Harmon or someone is walking around with a candle...

I wonder if her hair color had something to do with it being dark and giving the aura of The Bride of Frankenstein.

Well, that's why the audience laughs.

No! I've never seen that at all, ever - not even as a kid. It was possibly long gone even when the show originally aired - if it was even a thing!

The nearest you'd get now is maybe a manager having a look on the shop floor and checking if customers are okay and if not get a sales assistant to help them (or do it themselves).

I always thought it was odd when watching the original run.

I believe floorwalkers were a thing back in the day, but they even predate AYBS in many instances. In one of the documentaries of the show, they interview a woman who is the daughter of the owner of Simpsons, if memory serves me correctly. She talks about employees of the store and which of the characters on the show remind her of them. I believe she mentions Captain Peacock and a floorwalker their store once had.
