Cute episode. I like how we get a glimpse into the personal life of Mr. Grainger and his annual tradition of entertaining the old folks. I think the scene with Mr. Humphries wearing his friend's Merry Stripmas costume is a hoot. The whole episode is whimsical and fun.

I loved the punchline with Humphries fainting, but I think the lead up to the end was a bit long. Lots of discussion taking up a majority of the episode.

Over all I liked it tho.

I do very much like this eppy for the whole "holiday" feel. This would be my 2nd favorite AYBS? Christmastime eppy.

Well, there were only two true Xmas episodes, so this has to be my second favourite.

It doesn't have the special magic of Christmas Crackers, but it has lots of funny bits.

I find Humphries in drag happens a bit too often for it to retain its humour, so his Merry Stripmas costume does nothing for me.

I like the focus on Grainger, though.

While I know some arent a fan of this one, I like it. The CDU, which is arguably the most danegrous ever display unit, is hilarious. The Mammy bit is fun, especially when the record player speeds up and grainger nearly collapses trying to keep up.

The ending is a bit drawn out, but Lucas as a dwarf santa is pretty funny. The blackface gag is pretty lame though. Overall still a fun episode.

The idea of Father Christmas flashing everyone was very funny.

As I point out every year, as Father Christmas, Capt. Peacock looks more like Saruman from LOTR.

Will disagree...it was creepy and I think the only episode I refuse to show my children.

I think that was the idea of the gag. It was suppose to be inappropriate for kids. Instead of a warm open welcome it turned into a perverted gesture.

Jo Austin, the production assistant mentioned that they put a "phallus" toy on the display to get the look from the staff that you see.

I agree.

And flashers were a big problem in the 70s. You don't hear much about it now.

We still have flashers they don't last long. They do not get the attention they deserve because people are inured to genitals. Plus everyone calls the cops. Those Police Sketch Artists are very good these days.

That occurred to me just after I posted. Still, the in-person reaction must be a different kind of thrill than you would get from Skyping or whatever.

The cases are usually dismissed for lack of evidence.
