Lightbulb Welcoming committee group

Hi,

I don't always check-in to the site as much as I would like to. While I do a fair job in catching up on old news, I always regret it when I forget to speedily welcome new members to the forum.

Is there a responsible (rules me out) MotB, Moderator, or member who would like to start a Group that we could subscribe to and get e-mail notices when someone comes in to be debagged?

I think the the site and new members would enjoy quicker and more welcomes by more members.

Alternatively, is there a way just to get an e-mail if someone starts a new thread in the Introductions area?

cpl. Joe

Oops! I just saw that you can subscribe to the Introductions forum. I guess I'm behind the learning curve again!

I just signed up for daily notifications.

Group: that is good idea! We're still working out some kinks in the groups feature but once we do that I'll be happy to create one

But due to the nature of the group, I will only permit a staff member to create it, not a MotB--though anyone can certainly join! That way if the newbie or anyone has any complaints about it (not likely but it could happen), it can be properly directed at me and the staff.

E-mail:
Now that you don't need to wait on me for! Anyone can subscribe to Introductions forum for updates. On the Introduction's forum page, go under Forum Options on the right side of the screen. There you can select Daily or Weekly Updates (there is no Immediate Update, sorry).

I usually do my best to meet and greet the newbies. I do feel it is important to welcome and make everyone feel at home here.

As hard as I try to greet the newbies the first day I find that sometimes I don't welcome them untill later.

We Kiwis don't say "no worries" but we might say "gidday! Airgun?"

which translates as "good day, how are you going?"

leroy - no worries ;-) - I was just having some fun there. I don't know that my sense of humour travels so well but if you can't be silly at a site about this show, where can you?

KEWL....Been to 'Welly' several times. (once for business too!) Dated a couple of girls from Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt. One of them came and visited me at my work place in Weedons, NZ. We played tennis at the old RAF Base where I worked at. When I was 'Welly', I stayed at the James Cook Hotel. They had (don't know if it's still around or changed Ownership) this basement with a Large Swimming Pool and Steam Room! On my 1st visit there, after a nice swim, I went to the Steam Room, was the only one there until about 4 girls showed up wearing only bath towels and came in, sat down behind me and took OFF there towels, sat there completely naked! I turned around and said too them...excuse, am I in the wrong steam room??? They giggled, said No, that this was a his/her's place and then asked me if I was a YANK....totally blew my mind away! This was back in late 1974 or 1975.

I don't think we're going to get that frisky in our welcoming of new members I think "Hi and welcome!" will suffice.

Also, we've got several under-18s frequenting the forum, so mind the discussions on steam room adventures. You're always able to use the PM system if you want to talk about such topics privately

I understand. My sincere apologies. Just recalling a past experience but I promise I will not talk like this again.

Hahahaha - maybe I'm just really desperate for a good laugh right now to make me a little less sad, but that was one of those things where when I read it, it was a good thing I wasn't drinking anything at the moment or my screen would have gotten it!

Good one
