Next year it will be 30 years since the last episode of the show was broadcasted, but still I love the show of Dad's Army, in Holland we know it also as: 'Daar komen de schutters'.

Some great actors played in this show:

Arthur Lowe (Capt. George Mainwairing) => "Just testing you Wilson", "I've spotted that for some time, I wondered when someone mentioned that, "You stupid boy"

John le Mesurier (Sgt. Arthur Wilson) => "Do you think that's wise, Sir?"

Clive Dunn (Cprl. Jack Jones) => "Don't panic, don't panic"

James Beck (Prv. Joe Walker)

John Laurie (Prv. Jock Frazer) => "We're doomed, doomed"

Arnold Ridley (Prv. Charles Godfrey) => "May I been excused?"

Ian Lavender (Prv. Frank Pike) => "I'm going to tell it to my mum"

Bill Pertwee (Chief Warden Hodges) => "Put that light out!"

Frank Williams (Vicar Farthing)

Edward Sinclair (Verger Yeatman)

Harold Bennett (Mr. Bluett)

Great topic Ronald :thumb:

I'm a massive fan of Dad's Army, i've been watching this classic since i was a kid. Over 70 tv ep's were made, Radio series, movie version plus a stage show. There was also a Radio series spin-off called 'It Sticks Out Half A Mile' featuring John Le Mesurier & Ian Lavender.

The whole cast were wonderful, but i have to vote for the great Arthur Lowe, he's one of the finest comedy actors i've ever seen.

If only they could make comedies as good as this these days :(

Dads Army was a great British Classic sitcom. Brilliant scripts and excellently cast. The interplay between Captain Mainwaring and Sergeant Wilson was very important, and done so well by Arthur Lowe and John Le Mesurier. Also, the conflict between the platoon and the wardens accompanied by the Vicar and the Verger added so much comedy, that I never get tired of watching the series which is constantly replayed on Cable and Satellite.

My favourite character Captain Mainwaring, although I always liked the small parts played by the Vicar and the Verger.
