Why do you think that Mr. Tebbs did not climb the stairs witht he rest of the cast in Happy Returns. The scene where they change from their costumes to the other. is he disabled?

If you notice, James Hayter is a bit portly, and also walks with a slight limp or a haulted gait. So I guess they let him not do too many things physical. I said a while back that I believe it's not him doing the teddy bear dance, either....it's a stand-in.

I always figured it was something like that. Well, at least he comes in for the final part of the dance.

I agree with Tids. I myself don't think he was in the teddy bear costume. No one else in the cast had their faces covered up as he did.

That's very true, but the other characters didn't really need masks. But I still think your theory makes sense.

They could have very easily had a costume with the face cut out and Tebb's face painted up. When Tebbs talks about "hearing out of the mouth", it sounds like he's talking into a microphone. The teddy bear also looks a little too tall.

Mr. Tebbs' age played against him I think, and wenn he walked he had some trouble to bent his knees.

In fact... In can't remember one episode where he came out of the lift en walked off the stairs. You?

Yet another thing I've never noticed in AYBS :) It's amazing all the things one can miss even after watching for years. I'm going to have to pull the Tebbs years out now and look at them again, especially the too-tall teddy bear.

Poor Tebbs did seem to have trouble walking. He sort of Wibble Wobbled when he walked....
