I've never been a mystery fan, but am hooked on this Miss Marple miniseries!

Only because I loved McEwan in "Mulberry", did I start watching her in this Agatha Christi miniseries.

I'm so disappointed it is not available on VHS, only DVD. :(

DVD players are very cheap these days.

I remember Mulberry very well, but I haven't seen this Miss Marple at all. I should check it out.

Some FYI ~
I think in Agatha Christie's movies, McEwan is the 3rd one to play Miss Marple. The others were of another generation or two and not nearly as good, as I understand it.

I'm so glad I had not seen the others before. So far there are only a few stories in the series with Geraldine McEwan. I hope they produce another set...then I'll HAVE to get one of those cheap DVD players.

You simply MUSt get a dvd player-you have no idea how much of an improvement dvds are compared to VHS-in lots of ways. For myself, after the wealth of shows on dvd, it has to be the space savingness of discs-tapes weigh a ton and take up so much room.

Get buying! lol

I used to love watching Mulberry but my PBS station doesn't broadcast it anymore

I've seen most of the previews for this particular Miss Marple series but I haven't tuned in yet -- most of the shows that they're making with McEwan are ones that I know of already from reading the novels (great stories by the way  )

I know what you mean. My station doesn't air 'Mulberry' anymore either... I'll  with you!

From what I understand, McEwan does such a splendid job in her role of Miss Marple it gives the stories a fresh new feel.

They split the stories each into 2 parts...since I haven't read them I have to wait a week for the "whodunnit".

Since there is only a series of 3 or 4 shows, the run is too short. I don't know if they will run them again within the year or not, hence the need for the VHS....or DVD.

For the Fall, the PBS station is advertising 'Sherlock Holmes' in that Mystery! time space.

PBS, WGBH ANNOUNCE MAJOR 2005 MYSTERY! PACKAGE

Geraldine McEwan Stars as Miss Marple

Four episodes of "Miss Marple" head the list of programs slated for PBS' popular MYSTERY! series.

Based on the beloved books by Agatha Christie, "Miss Marple" is one of three brand-new series scheduled for MYSTERY! in the 2005-06 season. The others are "Malice Aforethought," a black comedy, and "Jericho," an original detective story set in the 1950s.

"'Miss Marple,' 'Malice Aforethought' and 'Jericho' continue the tradition of excellent British thrillers, and are sure to become favorites of our MYSTERY! fans," commented series executive producer Rebecca Eaton.

Starring Geraldine McEwan (Gosford Park, The Magdalene Sisters) as Ms. Christie's famous spinster sleuth, the first of the "Miss Marple" films, "The Body in the Library," recently completed production in England. Three more follow: "A Murder is Announced," "Murder at the Vicarage" and "The 4:50 from Paddington."

The two-parter "Malice Aforethought" centers on a popular country doctor whose ill-conceived decision to murder his "difficult" wife sets his life spinning out of control.

In "Jericho," Robert Lindsay (Oliver Twist, Horatio Hornblower) stars as the renegade Detective

Inspector Michael Jericho, one of Scotland Yard's most revered officers. The four episodes reflect the turbulent period of social upheaval during the late 1950s through the eyes of DI Jericho.

"Miss Marple" is a co-production of London Weekend Television, WGBH Boston and Agatha Christie Ltd.

"Malice Aforethought" is a co-production of Granada Television and WGBH Boston, and "Jericho" is a co-production of London Weekend Television and WGBH Boston.

MYSTERY! is presented on PBS by WGBH Boston.
