No not really! Sorry. I believe they were/are amazing song writers and musicians but I'm just not fussed about their sound. I always prefer other artists singing their songs.

I had heard that they aren?t worth anything, seeing as they?re not exactly rare as so many were produced due to their popularity.

Thank you for the plug, Minki. :) I've been a Beatles fan since I was 7 years old. My favorite albums are Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. When I was a kid, my mom used to hate "I Am the Walrus", so I naturally played it as often as possible. :D

I guess it's the rare albums that are worth alot then or not, I could be wrong.

It was a US-only album; the first issue featured a cover photo of the Fabs wearing butchers' smocks and covered with pieces of raw meat (known to collectors as the "Butcher cover"). This was hastily withdrawn and replaced with a photo of the Beatles standing around a trunk (the "Trunk cover"). Some Trunk covers can be peeled off to reveal a Butcher cover underneath. Butcher covers are worth a lot of money. Not in the same league as a Butcher cover, mono copies of Beatles LPs are worth a tidy sum (especially if they're in near mint condition), as are original 60s pressings of stereo Beatles LPs (you'd need a book to tell you how to identify such records).

I like almost every song on Pepper (except "Within You Without You"), but my favorite is "Good Morning Good Morning". I hate to admit this, but the first copy of Sgt. Pepper I ever owned was an 8-track tape.

It's called BEATLE BURN-OUT !

You're only 13 so you still have a big world of real music to explore. I think kids today have their ears polluted with so much garbage they don't recognise classic rock for what it is....the stepping stone for what they hear today. At 13 you're bound to "hate" lots of things. As you grow up you'll realize you were incorrect.

Yes I know that...from your user name. I was using a collective "you're only 13" to point out that you and your friends have a long time to grow up and to explore other music besides what's currently popular...like rap. If you like 70's rock, start with Fleetwood Mac.

Tiddles, I don't hate the Beatles, I LOVE the Beatles.
If you like 70's rock, start with Fleetwood Mac.
Or The Who (they did some of their best work in the 70s, and "Who's Next" is considered to be one of the greatest rock albums of all time). Or Todd Rundgren's "Something/Anything?". The Stones also did a lot of good work in the 70s, although the subject matter of their songs can be a bit mature for a 13-year-old. Since Mick Jagger's diction is hard to understand most of the time when he sings, it may not matter, though.
I was wondering, beatlegirl, if you've heard both versions of the "Let It Be" album (the original and the "Let It Be...Naked" CD that came out a few years ago) and, if so, which you preferred.

Apple Corps Tightly Guards Beatles' Legacy
Friday, March 31, 2006 2:17 PM EST
The Associated Press
By JENNIFER QUINN
LONDON (AP) ? Apple Corps Ltd., is like a doting parent when it comes to The Beatles, looking after their interests and promoting their recordings, but it also makes sure no one tries to mess with the band's legacy.
The company is in court again this week, fighting Apple Computer Inc. over the iTunes Music Store, the latest battle in a long-running dispute with the U.S. company over the apple logo.
"They regard the Beatles as their four boys ? John, Paul, George and Ringo ? so Apple Corps looks after their music," Keith Badman, a Beatles expert and author, said Friday.
"You don't get the Beatles' version of Penny Lane being used in a cheap advertisement," Badman said. "They make sure the Beatles' recorded music is not damaged, and that's a good thing."
Apple Corps ? set up by the group in 1968 and still owned by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison ? is an ever-alert watchdog, growling whenever anyone approaches the Beatles' property. It is responsible for approving merchandising and licensing for the group, as well as protecting the company's valuable apple trademark.
In the lawsuit at London's High Court, Apple Corps is seeking to force Apple Computer to drop its logo from the iTunes store and pay unspecified damages. The California-based company has countered by saying a 1991 agreement between the two Apples allows them to distribute entertainment content.
Apple Corps has also battled with EMI Group, which releases the Beatles' recordings under the Apple label, over royalties. It is equally vigilant about protecting its territory in other spheres, filing lawsuits on everything from the Fab Four's images on postage stamps to the stage show "Beatlemania."
Who owns what is a complex issue. While EMI releases the Beatles' albums, the publishing rights to words and music of 251 Beatles songs are owned by Michael Jackson and Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
The company is also instrumental in continuing The Beatles' popularity. They were behind the release of the 2000 hit album "1", which featured hits as diverse as "She Loves You" and "Hey Jude." Sales of that album topped 24 million.
The Beatles set up Apple Corps to be a corporate utopia, said Peter Doggett, the author of several music books including one about John Lennon.
Founded in the flower-power days, the company was going to behave in a relaxed way where artists could pop into the offices and not be confronted by stuffy men in suits.
"It began as an ideal corporation," Doggett said, "which in Paul McCartney's words, was supposed to operate in a nice kind of western communism."
Operating out of offices in a tony central London neighborhood, Apple Corps keeps a low profile ? at least on the Internet. Their Web site is just one page, with the company's name, e-mail address and telephone number. When a caller to the company is put on hold, the music keeping them occupied is, of course, The Beatles.
The company hasn't posted huge profits: For the year ended Jan. 1, 2005, Apple Corps claimed a loss of nearly $950,000. It noted in financial statements filed with Companies House, the official government register of British companies, that more than $2.2 million each was paid for the "promotional services" of McCartney, Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison.

The Beatles topped many popular and expert lists at the turn of the century. That's always been part of their magic - they please the public and are musicians musicians. Some may not like them, but I don't think anyone who has a wide experience of music and pop culture can credibly label them as "no talent" or irrelevant. So much of post -60s music and fashion is Beatles derivative to some extent. For example, there are still many Beatles songs and tribute albums being produced- listen to the Cowboy Junkies' version of "Run for Your Life" or Cornershop's version of "Norweigan Wood" sung in Punjabi. Although I'm biased, I've been a fan since I was twelve, my 15 year old nephew recently told me how surprised he was by the large number of his peers, including himself, who actually like The Beatles. So hang in there Beatle Fan, there are far more of us out here than you may realize. Oh, and check out "Live at the BBC" - it's a compilation of their early songs and cover versions that made up their live sets. Awesome.

As a tiny guppy, I owned the 45 of "The Long and Winding Road", so I still prefer the orchestral version, even though I know Paul hated the added strings and female voices. Oddly enough, I didn't even own the "Let It Be" album until the CD era.
