Ever notice in "Strong Stuff" Mr. Humphries' ballet dancer friend calls him "Claybourne DAHLING" and I think in "Old Order" he's called "Clay" as well. But then it seems to switch back to Wilberforce in some eps. :? I know it's "just one of those things" the writers may have forgotten.....and I not sure if we've talked about this before, either. It's not unlikely to call someone by their middle names, after all. I like the name "Wilberforce" better than "Claybourne." :D

His full name is Wilberforce Clayborne Humphries.
But some good friends do call people by their middle names.
And parents call their kids by their full name when they are upset with them or to make a point of sometype...
But 95% of the time call him by Wilberforce or Mr. Humphries.

I often wondered if the writers didn't forget his name. Let's face it, they forgot poor Bettys name how many times....

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. I love the writers for giving us this excellent program but let's face it, their memories weren't altogether perfect.

Yes, continuity wasn't one of their strong points.

"Clay" does roll off the tongue better than "Wilber" does :D
