"Sorry for bargin' in while you got your snouts in the trough!"
One of the most classic lines of the show, he was flipping hilarious!

I liked him as well. It was funny how he KNEW Mrs. Slocombe when they were younger. I bet he could tell a mean story about Betty.

This is a character I didn't take too well in the beginning but after a while, he grew on me and I think he's hilarious !!!

One of his funniest lines was when they were out on the tractor and Mavis said she saw black smoke and he said 'that'll be Mr. Humphries' with his new pipe'
And when he saw Miss Lovelock out by the pump in the dark----- and takes off screaming!

 Alrighty, then! I must admit to not liking him too much in the beginning for all those reasons, and then I sort of "fell for" his character. He was just so over the top! I would have liked to have seen him in other roles to get a comparison.

My wife cracks up laughing every time he's on the screen. He doesn't even have to say a word.....she busts a gut just looking him!
He played the part brilliantly.

I thought that the British actor who played the role of Mr. Moulterd - Billie Burden - was also in an episode off George & Mildred.
(He was a farmer in a small village where Mr. Jeffrey Fourmile came to phone a garage after his car had broken down after he and his wife Ann and his son Tristram went to a funeral)

i love him!! my favorite scene with him was when mrs. slocombe was stuvk in the chicken coop and he got up behind her and tried to pull her out and someone (was it mr. humphries?) walked up and got a very different perspective on the situation. the scene doesn't involve his primarily, but it still resounds in my mind

I absolutely love Mr. Moulterd!! I don't think the show would have been as funny without him.

For me, Mr Moulterd really made AYBS Again what it was! While I loved every scene he played, perhaps my favorite is where he played the role of vicar, in full garb with his old mucky boots. His facial expressions were an added bonus.

I agree. That was hilarious!! Also, I think someone has already mentioned it, but I love the scene where the donkey pulls him out of the room. That's just too funny! I also agree with you when you say that Mr. Moulterd really made AYBS Again what it was!! He gave it that extra kick!

I love pussy cats myself. In the first or second episode, Mrs. Slocombe said that she had to put butter on the cat's paws since she moved. Does anyone know why people do that to cat's when they move?

I think it was an "old school" way of getting your pussy used to the new environment. How it works exactly, I have no idea.

Butter tastes good and I guess if you put it on a p.., well I just was wondering about what Mrs. Slocombe said. She can sure make you think about things! Never in my life, have I thought about putting butter on a cats paw. :smack:

I didn't take to well to Mr. Moulterd at first either. But I liked him better later on.
I had originally only seen maybe three of the G&F episodes when they showed them here on our PBS station, including the last episode. I finally got to see the rest when I bought the DVD set for G&F.
Anyone else here take notice to the fact that the dog in the last episode was called "Shirley Brahms" in real life?

"Shirley Brahms" is the name of Wendy Richard's dog.

For some reason I never really took to Hi-de-hi . I think that "You rang m'lord" , which had a lot of the same cast , was much better .

I don't think it was actually Mollie's cat AFAIK.
And sometimes they use butter on the cat's paws if the cat is having hairball problems, never heard about it being used for moving though.

Putting butter on a cat's paws was an old wives tale type deal. It supposedly kept a cat from wandering away from its new home. :tiddles: When you think about it, that makes sense. Cats find their way around by smell. Their scent is left on everything when they walk or rub on things.

It's too bad that Billy Burden is no longer with us. The cast, I think Wendy Richard especially, thought that he was a really funny man and were all sad when he passed away so suddenly.
Even if they had continued on with Grace & Favour, they would have needed to replace him in the next season. Or was his passing the reason they didn't continue?

Billy Burden passed on some years after G&F was discontinued. No that's not why he died.:hat:
