I've recently watched the first 5 episodes after not seeing the show since I was about 13 or 14. It is so wild, corny, outlandish, and sort of stupid...but I love it and can't stop watching it. I can definitely see why it appealed to me so much as a young teenager. After all, somewhere in the first few episodes is a punky song about how awesome "Dr. Marten's boots" are. I was flannel-wearing, combat boot lovin', grungy little wannabe and my parents hated when I watched The Young Ones. Of course it was right up my alley! :p

The scenes with Alexei Sayle make me cringe and it's one of the few things I've never liked about "The Young Ones". Other than that I love the show. I remember it coming on MTV back when I was in high school and fell in love with it then.

I love the "who's who" of the show and how you can trace so many people from Ben Elton to Dawn French and Jen Saunders.

Yes! Watched "Bambi" last night and spotted a young Emma Thompson and Hugh Laurie playing university challenge game show contestants. I had to pause and go back to watch it again, thinking, "Wow - those people look really familiar!" :? It took me a while to realize who it was.

There were four of them all together: Neil the hippie, Vyvyan the punk, Rick the anarchist, and Mike the "cool person."

My favorite episode was when one of the charactors thought he was pregnant and ended up being full of gas and blew the place up.

It's hilarious - I've got both DVDs and it makes me glad that I'm a normal uni student lol
