Here's your chance to add a character to the show. If you think some element is missing, find someone and plug him/her in. It can be someone you make up, or someone from another sit-com whom you feel would fit in well and add something to the show.
I'd like to create a "Mr Masharman." He's a combined version of Mash and Harman with the BEST of both. I'd like to see this played by Arthur English. I like Larry Martyn but I think the way AE plays his role, he fits in better with the "ridiculousness" of the characters. Mash was very nearly too intelligent for the "upper class" staff --which I know was part of the joke in regard to class struggle...but I liked Harman better.
Very Young Mr Grace

Cool idea Tids!
I will add a very pompous Frenchman. He's called "Mr. Quool". The phonetic pronounciation is "cool", as in "Mr. Cool," and that's just what this guy thinks he is. In reality he's just a spoiled brat who is living off his grandfather's fortune.
Add a touch of style and mock coolness like Fonzi from "Happy Days", mix in the cheesy mannerisms of a lounge singer, and you have a cheesy over-the-top "I think I'm God's gift to women" side character who tries to have a go at Miss Brahms every time he walks onto the floor.
His grandfather is a shareholder of Grace Brothers, but Mr. Quool attends the shareholders meetings because of his grandfather's ill health and pops 'round to schmooze with Young Mr. Grace and flaunt his riches.
He would show up for a minor role every two or three episodes throughout the series, strutting his stuff and letting everyone on the floor know he's rich and successful. But whenever he tries to pick up Miss Brahms, she shoots him down. Eventually he succeeds in getting Miss Brahms to say "yes" for a date, and she starts to actually like him, but Mr. Lucas finds out that Mr. Quool is seeing other birds on the side, so Lucas tells Miss Brahms. She then proceeds to tear Mr. Quool's favorite leather jacket to shreds!
Just a thought....

OH TIDS !
I can't believe this you didn't have "LENNY HENRY" as the Chef...To work there.
So let's put Lenny in as the Chef at Grace Brothers.

I would add the character "Mrs Rita Crystal". She could be the third member on the ladies' counter, as I always thought there should be 3. She could be a ritzy worker who likes to have fun. Kind of a cross between Slocombe and Brahms.

I would add Dawn French from the VOD to the ladies counter. She could get so far up Mrs. S and Capt P nose's with her humor. Could you see her fitting someone for a bra? A name for her as yet eludes me. MB

Sounds like a great idea !!!!
I would have added another "gay" character to visit the Ladies and Gent's floor from time to time. Have him work in some other department and have him be the "evil" Humphries type character.

I'd add John Cleese as "Basil Fawlty" as assistant floorwalker. I think it'd be funny seeing him go hay-wire when a customer has a complaint.

That would be a good one. Have a story line like Peacock having to go to a "Floorwalker Training Seminar" and Fawlty taking his place for a week and drives eveyone mad to the point that they cheer Peacock on his return.

What about Mrs. Bucket (Bouquet) from Keeping Up Appreances on the Ladies Counter. She always must have top quality merchandice and with Grace Brother's rubbish it would make her some funny bits plus the fact that she would be giving Mrs. Slocombe orders.

To see her and Slocombe go at it would be hilarious !!!! Too bad they didn't think of stuff like this for "Red Nose Day". Like they did for Vicar of Dibley, they did special little skits for RND. The one time they even teamed up Ballykissangel and Vicar, they called it Ballykissdibley.

Rach,
I would pay money to see that! I actually had a dream that she and Liz came to Grace Bros.

This is slightly off on a tangent, but cameo appearances by some American
film star icons would have made for some interesting episodes...
for example:
John Wayne as Mr. Mash or Harman's assistant.
Old Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra) as a singing, dancing, Lucas bashing Jr. on the
Men's counter.
Robin Williams as a fast talking customer, engaging in conversation with Mr. Grainger.
I think it would be great to have ALL the members of
this board in an episode(s)...maybe the running of the London Marathon (is there such a beast?) I would be the one running behind Captain Peacock stepping on the back of his shoes every 3 steps...Well, that would
last for about 100 yards.
As a regular staffer, Don Knotts would make a great security guard character.
Gals pick your favorite hunk guy to be Miss Brahms boyfriend (cause I know most of you want to be Miss Brahms anyway  and most the guys just want Miss Brahms )

I've wanted to do a fan fiction that I wrote about on the Old Board. Start out with Ab Fab.... Eddie and Patsy party extremely hard then Eddie finds herself shopping in Grace Brothers where Gran is Slocombe, Saffie is Brahms, Justin is Humphries (since they are both "gay" characters) and Patsy (dressed as a man) is Peacock. After the whole store ends up in an uproar, Eddie wakes up and finds out to be a dream.

I'd add the Vicar (although I don't know who would play him) as a real character 'checking' up on Mr Humphries from time to time and Mr Humphries having to be on his best behavior and then finding out that he's one of the shareholders.
Maybe Peter Sallis could appear as Norman Clegg (From Last Of The Summer Wine) as either a share holder or Mrs Slocombe's 'boyfriend'.
Personally I would of liked to have seen Robin Williams as Mrs Slocombe's American Uncle.

For Humphries ?? More like the "dishy" Vicar from KUA.

Rose from KUA would make for some interesting action!
The ladies would hate her, and the guys would wouldn't know whether to
stand their ground or run like mad.

Margo Leadbetter from The Good Life would be an interesting character to have I could see Mrs Slocombe getting completly and utterly irritated with her and then Jerry Leadbetter coming in saying that he's double parked.
Would make an interesting subplot

I'd like it if Andrew Sachs from "Fawlty Towers" was on the eppys and was the waiter for the Grace Brothers staff. Even though he was in the movie of AYBS?. :D

I love this idea of bringing in characters from other shows!! Like when ABC & NBC do their crossover nights!! EXCELLENT!! :)

How about Lenny Henry as a replacement for Keith Hodiak-the tech guy? Running around screaming "Cat Flaps, Cat Flaps-I don't know a thing about Cat Flaps"! when Mrs Slocombe requests one for her cat.
That would be a hilarious scene. LOL

Mr. Bean would be an extremely annoying, not to mention odd, customer. If Mr. Humphries instructed him to "walk this way," he would definitely try to imitate him.
