Hi everyone!! I live in the United States & I just bought the Are You Being Served Again DVD set. I had seen a few of these episodes on our local Public Broadcasting System channel, but am basically unfamiliar with the show.

What are everyone's thoughts on the show? Do you think it is as funny, not as funny, or funnier than AYBS?

Congratulations on your purchase! I hope you get good use out of it!

I personally think the show is hilarious, but do not like it as much as Aybs?
It has it's own unique feel to it, I find it to be more relaxing and laid back. I love the new characters (The Moulterds and Miss.Lovelock) and the setting is nice. Altogether an excellent show! :D

I too have really enjoyed the return of the AYBS gang in the AYBSA (Grace and Favour in the UK) on DVD.

I liked the change from the store to the country... Seemed like they had
more freedom to move around.

I liked the new characters, too.

I would not say it is as funny as AYBS? cause there are just not enough episodes to make any kind of fair comparison. It seems to me there
are less laughs per episode. That being said, I enjoyed it every bit as
much as AYBS...probably because of its heritage to AYBS.

Actually, I am from Canada. I used to be able to catch Aybs?A! on YTV, but they stopped airing it. It is better with the dvds anyways because they don't cut parts out. 8)

No, but my DVDs of AYBSA actually have Grace and Favour for the title.
I live in AZ, USA.

I agree with dazzlestar. It was hilarious! The first AYBS? was funnier though. :)

I'm from the States Candygirl and I love GAF !!! It took a while for it to grow on me. Where as FD loved the setting in the Manor house, I hated it at first. I wanted the shop forever but the stories are great, the cast is ALWAYS great and I do love the new characters. Watch it and I'm sure you'll love it.

The man running the comedy department at the Beeb at the time didn't like it.

I wasn't sure if AYBSA would be as funny as AYBS because of the new setting, but, with all the quips from the cast,it's still funny.

Yes, it is hilarious, I would find it hard to pick a favourite moment.

The situation between Mr. Humphries & Mavis is funny. I wish the series would have kept going...since rumor has it that Mr. Humphries & Mavis were going to get married, then she was going to leave him for a younger man.

Ooh, then Mavis wouldn't have been on my good list.

Actually, the situation between Mavis and Humphries was silly IMO. Always thought it was a ridiculous story line. Funny thing, in an interview with Trevor, he thought it was ridiculous as well.

Mr. Humphries was always portrayed as being gay, right? Not bi?

Please take a look at the "Is he or isn't he" thread in the main forum. There's really no true answer to this question. I have always felt he went back to being MUCH more effiminate in AYBS? Again, though. The pink wardrobe, flower on his hat. The whole point of the character of Humphries was to keep us guessing.

Yes....I guess the character was written in a shroud of mystery.

In the episode where they play cricket, Humphries refers to himself
as bi-focals after Miss Brahms and Miss Littlewood discuss themselves as
being better close up than farther away(talking about vision but with double entendre) ...etc. sounds weird here but in context of the show it makes more sense.
