I've just finished watching the "Celebrating Mollie Sugden" special on disc 14 of my newly acquired box-set (a LONG overdue acquisition...). I remember watching this when it first aired on PBS, but this was my first time watching it since then. It was very enjoyable to see it all again, and hear all those anecdotes from the cast! But it was also very sad knowing Wendy, John and Mollie herself have all past away in the short time since that was recorded. As you may recall, this was done around the time of her 80th birthday, and the last 10 minutes or so is footage from her birthday party. I had managed to get through almost the whole thing without getting too nostalgic, when right near the end Mollie says:

"I look forward to celebrating another important milestone in 10 years time. And don't you be surprised if I even beat out Old Mr. Grace, and reach 100!"

Well, I just about lost it. :( :( :( She intended to live to be much older than she was when she left us, and she was unanimous in that! It made me so sad to hear that...

Sorry to be a downer. But the tragic irony of those lines was too much to handle! *pulls out handkerchief and sobs uncontrollably*

She will live forever with the DVD's though. Mollie and/or Mrs. Slocombe will last eternally in our eyes.

Sadly, I've had a hard time bringing myself to watch those specials on disk 14 since all three died.

Me meither, I haven't really watched any of the specials since Mollie's passing...I found the Mollie one the other day--I really ought to put it in.

By thinking about them and talking about them in this forum and by watching them on DVD we are really preserving them in our memory .

See my signiture.

I'm sure they would like us to remember them as happy and want us to be entertained by them for a long time to come.

Reading through this made my eyes weak as water.
