If there'd been a great big sale or auction when the show ended, of all the props, costumes and furnishings used on AYBS? what item(s) would you have wanted to buy or to have won for your own enjoyment?

I honestly can't remember the name of the episode but the male model in the episode that everyone assumes it's Mrs Slocombe 50th birthday.
The one that goes "I like it, I like it" and his lights go off.
Speaking of which I'd also like Mrs Slocombe's birthday present so I can finally figure out what it is
Very Young Mr Grace

I would like the store display of Young Mr. Grace saying "Welcome to my store.....welcome to my store" where his head pops off!
I would also like one of the original measuring tapes that Mr. Grainger wore around his neck. Oh, and one of Mrs. Slocombe's wigs would be cool too!

Actually, if I had the kind of $$$ that it would take, I would try to find out if the original sets were still in the property storage at the BBC (they tend to keep them for decades) and see if I could buy them.
I would then take them on a tour of PBS stations for their fundraisers ($7.00 a knob to come in and tour the orginal set  Maybe have your picture taken behind one of the counters, or in Mr. Rumbolds office )

Nob. As in "head." Property storage...now there's an idea. I wonder if such a thing really exists and they re-use AYBS? stuff to this day on other Britcoms. :D
Mr. Harmon
11-21-2005, 12:03 PM
Hee hee I must have been editing while you were replying hee hee.
I wouldn't doubt it, every time I see the episode "The Apartment" I'm struck by how much the "Grace Brothers Ideal Home" display looks like the back kitchen wall from Good Neighbors. (the wall with their back door on it that is :D)
I know that most studios do have property storage rooms where they store sets (at least here in the U.S.) where many sets sit for decades. Most (if not all) of the original Brady Bunch set is still in storage to this day and dragged out from time to time, assembled and used to film various specials.

I'd want a pair of the naughty knickers, I can't decide which particular pair I'd want though, haha!
I'd also love to get my hands on:
one of Mrs. Slocombe's ruffled blouses
a few wibbly wobblies (can't believe you didn't think of that Greg!)
a grace bros. bag (always wanted one of those)
and there was this blue tie that was on display in a few of the episodes. It was different shaded blue swirls and I always thought it was so cool looking!

More props I'd love to have:
Mr. Humphries' gold watch and chain
Mrs. Slocombe's purse (the one with the real crocodile teeth from "Betting Fever")
Mrs. Slocombe's thermos (the one she brings in "Cold Store" filled with rum and pep!)
A bottle of Bliss perfume
much more to come I'm sure!

Miss Brahm's Outfit from Happy Returns actually the whole casts outfit from Happy returns (when they sang Stepping Out With My Baby)
A Wibbly Wobbly (preferbly Roger)
And I can't for the life of me remember what episode it is from (I know it was this week) the part of the display unit that ends up rubbing Mr Humphries bottom and him thinking it was Captain Peacock.
