Well I thought I already had this one up and running but since I can't find it, here it is.

Whether you think or don't think Mr. Humphries was or wasn't .. put your quotes from the show down here to state you case.

Mavis - (refering to Mr. Humphries) "He's a one isn't he Mr. Rumbold."

Rumbold - "Well he used to be."

There is the last episode scene with the Aussie hat. He decides to wear it up in the middle to avoid confusion.

Is or isn't, one thing has always been clear: Humphries always wanted to be ambiguous.

True but he acts more feminine that most women I know.

Go into any health club. I guarauntee you'll see at least one guy over 300 lbs. dressed exactly like that in complete denial. (Denial that he looks good enough to fit into it!)

How about from the first eppy when the lift door opens and the flowered umberella pops out and automatically Miss Prescott thinks it's Mr. Humphries.

Lovelock - "I'm afraid men are all the same."

Mavis - "Now Mr. Humphries is different !"

Lovelock - "Yes I've noticed."

Remember when Slocombe was that naive ?

Don't remind me.

Remember when Slocombe was that naive ?

Now that you mention it, Mrs. Slocombe seemed to get more naive again in G&F, too. Other than suggesting they steal the sheep, she was back to pretending she was high class instead of being the independant battle-ax that would storm into Rumbold's office. She never threatened to bat Mr. Moulterd around the earhole.

She never threatened to bat Mr. Moulterd around the earhole.

Maybe he told her that if she did that he'd give everyone the low-down on the goings-on in Tiverton during WWII.

This first eppy when Humphries uses Slocombe's umbrella to open the lift doors. A feminine like, flowery umbrella pops out and Miss Prescott automatically assumes it's Mr. Humphries.

The scene where Mavis teaches him how to rout the drainpipe (probably the most un-PC gay joke in either series) was both regretable and groan inducing. Unfortuneately it only makes sense if he's gay.

I'm not sure quite what I'm inferring here but, most gay guys that I have known wouldn't have felt as uncomfortable sharing a bed with Mavis as Mr. Humphries did!

I'm sure they would be happy to have someone to keep their backs warm.
