I think this episode has the best cliffhanger of any episode in the AYBS universe. Who could possibly watch Mavis climb in bed with Mr. Humphries at the end and not want to watch the next episode!

Good eppy. Does a great job at setting up most of the series plot. Nice to see cast again, bad lift and all.

I agree. This was a very well done episode. From the writing to the camera work, it flows well and sets-up the story for the new series.

although this was a good episode to start with i didn't like mr. grace investing their hard earned money. where exactly was it written that he was allowed to do this? i mean it was their money:shrug:. i still think mr. grace was cheap. his store granted but to do this to loyal employees was not right.

No, it is HIS money, that's the way pension funds get raided  by CEO types. That's why 401k accounts (and alot of pension funds now) are held by 3rd parties.

Really good episode, have watched it 10-12 times. I prefer these to most of the latter series AYBS shows.....thanks to Mavis, she brings a vitality that was needed:yes:

Definitely. From her accent to her dress to her epic scenes in bed with Mr Humphries, I love Mavis as a character :) This episode is really good.

didn't know that because captain peacock said they had been paying into it for a long time. so i guess mr. grace could invest. still wasn't fair that they staff got stiffed from him.

They got stiffed from him their entire time at Grace Brothers and I am unanimous in that.

:shakehead: so true, i would have quit Grace Bros. and gone onto another or better dept. store myself.

But they did get the manor house where they only work a few days a week, have a roof over their heads that they don't pay rent for and then they also get to cop the lolly.

from what i was watching it wasn't much lolly, especially when an american tourist group was staying for the weekend.

The opening scene with the busted lift had to have been done to paralell the opening scen in the AYBS Pilot.

When I first saw that scene, I thought to myself, "It's still the same ol' Grace Brothers!"

only this time it wasn't just ms. brahms and mrs. slocombe stuck they had captain peacock and mr. humphries with them. that seemed to be repeating itself even in the manor home the elevator was stuck with mrs. slocombe in it.

A case of taking the staff out of the store but leaving in something familiar.

and i guess he couldn't help but keep asking if anyone was free... old habits die hard.. i still think it was wrong of them to start working again they were supposed to be retiring, not working together again..

If they didn't work together then we wouldn't have had much of a show.
