So what happened to the Pension Fund? The staff contributed to it for years...and there was very little left for 5 people.
Also...the retirement home must have been in a sorry state / gone.
Oh Mr. Grace...what did you do with all the money?

Well, that's easy enough - he spent it on the two nurses, Miss Bakewell, his yacht and Rolls-Royce, visits to the strip club, meals at Romano's and the Savoy, charitable donations to the home for distressed nightclub hostesses, and of course Miss Lovelock.

Now that would have been an interesting idea for Are You Being Served Again: having the staff living in the staff retirement home as opposed to a country manor.

Don't forget that there were 2 Mr. Graces! My guess is that OMG squandered everything, then YMG spent his last years salvaging what was left of Grace Brothers, sent OMG to the nakers yard of the staff home, and only was able to salvage the ladies and gents' departments in the end. For their service, he gave them what was left and MM, leaving OMG to rot at the staff home.

It'd be like Waiting for God, only with more outlandish schemes by the residents (a.k.a. our staff) in order to liven things up.

I think you're right, minki. The dining room in Waiting For God would seem like the Savoy compared to the dining room in the Grace Brother's Staff Home.

The Pension Fund was tied up in the Manor, Rangoon Gasmantle Company and Faukland Whalebone Industries. Remember Mr Thorpe told them in the first episode.
