I have decided I need some new dvd's for my British collection. I'd like to hear what you would add. I value your opinions because you've proved you have good taste by being lovers of AYBS?. I can play all regions on my dvd player so it doesn't have to available in the US.

I currently have:

AYBS, Dinner Ladies
AYBS again, Mulberry
Keeping up Appearances, Hallelujiah
Two's Company
Dame Edna, Hetty Wainright
Waiting on God, Jeeves and Wooster
One Foot in the Grave, Fawlty Towers
Open all hours

Thanks for your time and opinion

I would suggest adding "Allo Allo" to your collection. It's a WWII farce, written by Croft and Lloyd, which has tons of hilarious plot shifts, great characters, etc. Lots of AYBS style humor in it. The series lasted awhile (just like AYBS) so there are plenty of episodes to sink your teeth into. Give it a shot, you'll love it !!

Definitely "The Two Ronnies." Lots of series, and some of the funniest material ever written and performed on British TV.

I enjoy "The Thin Blue Line" and "Black Adder", both with Rowan Atkinson.
Each very different from the other. These aren't comedies per say, but do you know the animated Wallace & Grommit shorts? They're great fun.

I hope this isn't too much of a plug, but as long as you're buying DVDs, may I suggest going through this page:

www.sueupton.net/merchandise.html

with its handy link to Amazon. I don't yet have a link to Amazon UK - I really should get started on that.

I like comedies the best, but I'm willing to branch out.

Why is Red Dwarf not on your list? It should be!

If you like irreverent comedy, I'd also add the Young Ones.

"Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" is a series of detective stories starring Patricia Routledge (Hyacinth herself) as an amateur sleuth. The stories themselves aren't all that gripping in terms of being serious mysteries, but if you're a fan of Ms. Routledge, they can be enjoyable. Perhaps you could watch a couple of episodes on YouTube before deciding if you'd want to purchase the DVDs.
