I'm Anteor, a 20 year old student of Theology and Classics and an avid sitcom fan. I've been a fan of AYBS for about 8 years since I happened to see the tail end of "The Hero" on UK Gold and Mrs Slocombe's "belt up" line caught my attention and rendered me speechless for about five minutes through laughter.

My favourite character frequently changes but at the moment it is Mr. Grainger partly because he reminds me a little of my late Grandfather but also because Arthur Brough made the part so much his own. The series didn't lose all its spark when he died but it certainly lost something which they struggled to replace despite coming close with Mr. Goldberg.

Right, that's enough about me, who are you all? I only recently discovered this forum and you look a cracking bunch who I would love to get to know.:)

great thanks all for your kind words of welcome! Just out of curiousity what attracted you all to AYBS? Were any of you lucky enought to watch it durings its original 70s run?

I first saw the show in '91. I was attracted to it because (like Mr. Humphries) there was something so different about it.

Same boat here. Early 90's and the gay man and the woman with multicoloured hair caught my attention.

Welcome. .. I started watching AYBS? in 1985 with my grandma. She is the one that introduced me to it as well as Eastenders. I've been hooked since. :D

Your local PBS station was playing AYBS as far back as the early '80s? That is impressive!

Either that or my memory is completely shot!! I do remember my son being quite young at the time and that would fit in with the time period, but I have been known to get confused about when things occurred. Oh no! I'm beginning to sound like Young Mr. Grace!

Mr Grainger is a fantastic character. His best moments have to be in series five.
Welcome and happy posting!
