Many of which, I'm sure, were served in Grace Brothers' canteen. :)

that violently coloured, light-textured mousse
Violently coloured? Does that mean they beat the color into it really hard?

Hmm, intriguing! :)
Better than my lad, when he was four, asking for a bowel of cereal . "Well ok son, but you'll have to eat it first".
I like British cuisine much more now than 30 years ago, because we've started (gradually) to embrace other dishes whilst still keeping our old favourites; curry one night, roast beef the next, tacos the next! Much better than the very closed-mind attitude the contry as a whole used to have.

Kids really do say the darndest things! :)
Another thing I can't get used to is how much better meals in the local schools have become; long-gone are the days of slopply mash and something that may once have been a bit of animal on your plate; my youngest knows more about Mexican, Italian and French food than we do! It's nice that the country is starting to embrace its mixed culture whilst still celebrating its famous dishes.

I have to agree. I remember eating something called "mock pizza" in grade school: a piece of Texas toast covered with ground beef and tater 'tots. It was my favorite dish, but that's beside the point.

:) You wonder how we ever made it to adulthood on a diet like that!

Made it to adulthood? Heck, the majority of my adult life has included that kind of diet.

:D:D Thinking about it, so has mine! In fact if it wasn't for the fact we eat fairly healthy family meals for the kids' sake, I'd be composed almost entirely of takeaway pizza....

:lol: It's been ages since I saw that!
Nope! We've gone for this really shocking absolutely totally revolutionary diet, called eating a balanced diet and getting out and doing some sport and exercise :):) Annoys the heck out of the snooty mums and dads at our kids schools, who've all got their poor 7-year-olds on an Atkins diet or something, then insist on driving them the 150 yards home!

Yes, she would have been in bliss over a "bowel of cereal."
Honestly, I know people read tea leaves, but that woman's obsession with "reading" people's...loo 'leavings'...is just too much. ;)
