Your welcome - I stumbled across it whilst enquiring as to if there are any plans for a plaque for Mollie (I do hope so) shall let you know if I hear anything:)

My contact tells me that the Heritage Foundation will definitely "commemorate" Mollie somehow. I'll also weigh back in, if/when I hear anything further.

Further to my last: my contact at the Heritage Foundation tells me that blue plaques are usually put up about a year after the honoree's passing. (Wendy's was put up more quickly, at the request of John Burns, her widowed husband.)

The Heritage Foundation paid tribute to one of its most loyal supporters on the 5th July 2009 with the unveiling of a Blue Plaque in memory of the much loved and missed actress Wendy Richard. The unveiling took place at The Shepherd’s Tavern Mayfair, a former home of the star and was conducted by writer David Croft OBE. The ceremony was followed by a tribute luncheon given at The Millennium Hotel, Grosvenor Square. In addition to Wendy’s husband John Burns and family members, the event was attended by a host of Wendy’s co stars and colleagues from over the years including cast members from Eastenders and Are You Being Served. The luncheon was hosted by Heritage Vice President, Mike Read and incorporated tribute speeches from President Robin Gibb CBE, Wendy’s agent Kevin Francis, writer Derrin Litten and colleagues Leslie Grantham, Todd Carty, James Alexandrou, Natalie Cassidy and Frank Thornton. Musical tributes came from Rick Wakeman, Madeline Bell and Lorna Marshall.
A presentation of a portrait of Wendy by Keith Turley was made to Wendy’s husband John in further recognition of Wendy’s work specifically for the Foundation
As always the afternoon concluded with a charity auction and raffle. Other celebrities present included: Letitia Dean, Perry Fenwick, John Altman Kara Tointon, Derek Martin, Emma Barton, Gerry Cowper, Nageet Sali,Trevor Bannister, Les Dennis, Frank Williams, Jean Ferguson, Vicki Michelle, Juliette Kaplan, Sue Holderness, David Jensen, Robert Duncan, John D Collins and Nicola Cowper.

This website has lots of pics.

This isn't entirely flattering to either I know, but I love how much they are clearly enjoying each other's company.

Thanks OffMoll for that but I have a question, Why would they put that up so high ???

I really do not know - Maybe the pub/brewery were unable to give permission? Maybe they wanted to focus the plaque more on the residence (Above accommodation) than the pub itself?

Thanks OffMoll for that but I have a question, Why would they put that up so high ???

I've just had a response from my friend Ian Freeman, who was until recently a director of the Heritage Foundation, and is still very involved with them.

My conjecture was that the plaque was placed high up because it reads "Wendy Richard lived here," and she would have lived in a room above the pub. Ian's response was,

"That's a reason, yes. Also we rarely put plaques within reach of people, to avoid them being defaced or damaged."

So there we are. I suppose there are some people who (unlike us) wouldn't regard it as blasphemy to deface a plaque honoring Wendy, but some people would do anything, if allowed to.

I figured as much but unless I was told it was there I never would have known it. No way in Hell my eyes are that good to see that little blue plaque from the sidewalks, let alone read it.
I guess the thought is the best thing though. At least Wendy gets her kudos.
