View Full Version : John Inman's Health A Concern Again?

I was alerted to this by a member of My Yahoo Group, Jim. Here's his post...

Hey folks...sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I found a recent
article on the Lexis/Nexis from the London Examiner. It says that John
Inman is in very poor health. Apparently, he attended a function
earlier this month and his was very thin and gaunt and had to be
helped up and down the stairs. He responded to the reports by saying
he is doing fine, and that he isn't working because he doesn't want to
and would rather putter around in his garden. Maybe we'll get more
information if he attends the Wendy Richard function.

My thanks to Jim for this news bulletin. We must keep John in our thoughts and prayers. :(

I caught that on your group...I was trying to see if I could find a link to the article online but no luck. That's sad news.

Anyone in Britian able to help us out on this one?

I just read an article saying that he has hepatits A. It says that he caught it by eating something. The man has been stressed out after a fire broke out at his home. They say that he just has to get some rest.

I just read an article saying that he has hepatits A. It says that he caught it by eating something. t.

Let's be sure to post dated articles or links to recent articles so we don't get people in a panic. :D His bout with the hep A was months ago. I was reporting articles as I found them on the OB, and last time we heard anything, he had recovered sufficiently, and was back doing his pantomimes. So unless he's suffered a relapse very recently, it's something else bringing down his health. Too bad his website is so far behind. It's not like he has no fans!

Sorry my bad. I thought that was a recent article. I hope I am forgiven

I've edited the subject line of this thread to indicate that John may have some health issues, but there's no cause for anyone to think he's dying or something. We'll wait for some news articles to come in, and hopefully, they will. Like I said...too bad he's got no one to update his site and to keep his fans informed as to how he is. He's very beloved to us all. I hope he knows this.

Perhaps we are worrying too much - after all he's always been thin and at the age of 70 we should expect him to start looking a bit older. And even I at the tender age of 39 take care walking down the stairs.

He and Nicholas Smith are now in their 70s, Mollie Sugden and Frank Thornton are in their 80s - they've all seemingly kept very fit over the years, but they're now at the time of life when you begin to expect the odd health problem... sad to think of such great entertainers as human...

I think you sumed it up pretty well Dean.

It's very hard to think of any of them getting seriously ill and passing on. We watch them (some of us every day) and somehow think they are still the same age.

I do agree about his website however. I don't think they keep it up very well. His performances/calendar and such. There could be much more on there for his fans.

Not always. He's been looking a bit paunchy in some interviews and especially in the commentaries for Mollie's birthday, etc. Not that there's anything wrong with gaining some weight as one ages....I can't talk! LOL

There's a recent photo (as in the past two months) of John Inman on:

www.rexfeatures.com

He's looks so much older, pale, and just seems to have aged a lot recently.

I have access to Lexis/Nexis (which was mentioned in the first post on this thread). It's a legal research website for lawyers and law students, and no one else would really have access to it. Luckily, as a law student, I can check it out for all of you. I'll get back to you guys.

Thanks, Beach. BTW...you have to type "John Inman" in the search field and hit "newest" to see the later pics. That site also just gives small pics, but as we all know "there's always room for a little one!"

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that you'd have to put in John's name and click newest.

Here's the direct link for once his name is already typed in, so to save the trouble, just click on this:

Awww. Poor Mr. Grainger. If you have the AYBS? books, in one of them, there's a pic of Arthur Brough as a younger man, and he looks like my Grand-dad. He reminds me very much of my Grand-dad in his later years, as well. He was British and he even sounded Graingery.

I just saw the episode where Mr Grainer was in charge and he tried to apologize at the rest of the gang. Even though he deserved the slient treatment I really wanted to give him a big hug :
