Mobile Ice cream seller for god's sake!!!!!
Any other silly Mother Humphries careers we can think of?

Probably not a paid job - but she made tapestries for the Church (wonder where she had put the arrow?).

She used to entertain sailors in her parlor (at least one with a tatoo of a hunting scene where the fox's tail went....) so I guess she volunteered at the U.S.O. -- or whatever they call it in the UK.
She also cared for milkmen that have gotten kicked in the head by their horses, so I guess she was a first-aid nurse too!

Babysitting was one of her jobs. Mr Humphries took over for her in Friends and Neighbors. "Mr Humphries give me a baby."

Dearie me, all these jobs mentioned must be in the episodes I dont have..sound so farfetched for his mother to be doing.
Apart from John in drag, do we ever get see humphries mum at all?

The first time we see her/him is in "Founder's Day" when she was filmed because of going to bingo.

Sadly no. John in drag is Mr Humphries' mother.

Don't we also see Mrs. Humphries on the Best of AYBS American Special?

Yes, she wins a trip to Hollywood not taking her loving son and tells stories about his work at Grace Bros.

It was a clip show. It was shown on many PBS stations in the 90s and early 2000s. It features Mr Humphries' mom on vacation in America and writing letters to Mr. Humphries. The two of them talk about things that happened on the show, and then you see clips of those moments.

In the episode, The Sit In, when they are about to be regulated to the Bargain Basement, doesn't Mr. Humphries say that out of embarassment his mother will have to resign from the co-op? Don't know if that qualifies as a job......

I think it meant that she couldn't go shopping to the co-op anymore. If the co-op is anything like the Belgian co-op at least.
I would LOVE to see that Best of Special thing. But of course it isn't available here and my dvd player probably won't play an American dvd. :(

Sienna - I highly recommend an All Region or Multi-region DVD player. I have one so I can buy dvds from Amazon.co.uk that we can't get here. I love it!

Hmm, I know. The thing is, we've already got 4 DVD players at home and all of them strictly region 2. Anyway. I'll just pray they'll think to put it on a UK DVD! (I did see it on VHS too on Amazon.com, but that is ALSO in a format my VHS player won't play )

Or another idea is to just buy a second DVD-ROM player for your home PC. That's what a lot of people do. Just install the second DVD-ROM into a second slot. If it's Windows, right-click the drive in My Computer, and change the region to whatever region you want (presumably Region 1 for US) and then play all your Region 1 DVD's in that drive. It's a lot cheaper (like US $40) than buying another DVD player.
