We have a natural gas furnace. It's about 2 years old now. In February or March of this year, we had the guy that installed it out to check it over because we thought there was a problem. Turns out it wasn't the furnace, it was the water heater.. anyway, I want it turned on NOW as I'm freezing..  .. my question is, since it was checked in Feb. or March, should we have the guy come back out and check it over again or just go ahead and start it? I've heard people say that you should have the furnace checked before starting it in the cold weather every couple of years.. but me being paranoid patty here   , I'm just wondering if we should do it now even though it was checked thoroughly several months ago. Thanks..

Greg, I would love to switch to electric heat, but too expensive right now..
Sonosun, Frank, I just posted in the weather section that I was out of the race for the heat.. It's just too stinkin' cold here at night.. I worry about the kids getting cold in the night.. they like to kick their blankets off.. generally in the morning, their blankets are all over the floors.. and occasionally I might find a kid under one when I try to step over..

Not compared to the price of Heating fuel this year. I pity the elderly couple that live next to me. They just shelled out 500.00 for half a Winter's worth of Heating oil. :(

What I mean is to actually convert over right now.. I understand that the electric itself would probably be better.
My grandma just paid $501 to fill her oil tank. .. She said she had a hard time writing out a check for that amount..
I'm concerned about our gas bill this winter. Last year it ran about $350 a month in the winter. .. and they say that it's increasing this year.. I'm trying to think of legal ways to make money..

Paint Roofs Black.
Put weather stripping on peoples doors and windows.
Shovel snow.
Get the biggest Sears Die Hard Battery and some really good jumper cables and jump start cars.
Collect all of the neighbors newspapers and soda cans and sell them to the recycler.
Babysit.
Sell blood.
Make tamales and sell them door to door or in Supermarket parking lots.(Well it works in AZ. and California)

I am going to 'Scotch' this right away, right away. Greg would never have allowed Rumbold to insert bare wires into the receptacle. Greg would have put a plug on the end of the cord.

I turn the furnace or electric heat on yesterday evening.
If I didn't someone else would have it about 5 degrees warmer.
