Our local PBS affiliate airs this show every Saturday during Britcom night, and it's really grown on me over the past few months. Ardal O'Hanlon is hilarious and the writing is quite unique and utterly bizarre! (In a good way!) Does anyone happen to know if a DVD release is planned?

I don't know, it's pretty early just yet. It's just entered it's 5th season so maybe in another year or two they'll pop up with one (I hope :D)

I guess I'll have to give this one another chance. Didn't like it when I first saw it so I'll have to watch it again to see what the heck I was thinking !!!

This was a great show -- my PBS station used to air this one with Barbara right after it ... but they recently took it off the air. I think they replaced it with 'Allo, 'Allo which is a FANTASTIC show

This is an interesting website for My Hero.

That's a great website Tim
Just checked the link again and am sorry to hear that O'Hanlon is quitting, and being replaced by some other guy. That won't be easy, but I guess I should give it a chance. :|

Tim, thanks for the update.
Wow, this news is met with mixed emotions from me......
Ardal was awesome as Thermoman and it will be strange seeing someone else play him. However, James Dreyfus is a great comedic talent. He played the part of Constable Goody in "The Thin Blue Line, one of my favorite comedies, and hopefully will keep the series going. Lou Hirsch and Emily Joyce will return, as will the rest of the cast.
Unfortunately BBC America is not showing the older episodes anymore, and my local PBS Station nicked all of our usual weekend Britcoms.
Ah, the joys of television.....

The current season of MY HERO is airing in the U.K. and has been met with mixed reviews regarding James Dreyfus taking over for Ardal O'Hanlon. The ratings are mixed as well, but hopefully things will pick up and another season will be commissioned by the BBC next year. Hopefully we'll get these episodes in the U.S. soon as well.....
The DVD for season 1 was supposed to be released here in May but Big Bear Productions is having problems securing copyright approval. Hopefully we'll see the release here soon.

I liked the first couple of seasons of My Hero. Once they had Ollie, IMO the show started going downhill. It's like they're trying to make a lot more out of the show than what it really is.
Plus, the image of a baby with a grown-up mouth and talking like a grown-up is just too disturbing for me :)

I have seen a few of the new episodes with the new fellow, and so far it is not bad. He seems good at physical comedy, I like physical comedy. But it just does not seem the same, plus he does not have that cute baby face the other Thermoman had.
I will still continue to watch it though, I think it is funny. I like watching the mother in laws hairstyles hahahahahaha!!!!! I really like Tyler too, and Mrs. Raven.... :D
The image of the talking baby always bugged me too though.... :D

I like My Hero. I think the supporting characters like Mrs. Raven and Janet's parents are the ones that really keep me laughing. I could do without the talking babies too.

Sad news!!
According to downthetubes.net this past Monday:
25/9/06: downthetubes is sorry to report that My Hero is no more.
"The BBC have said - very graciously I have say - no more My Heros thank you," says series creator Paul Mendelson says, in an email thanking dtb for its coverage of the show. "Thank you so much for your unwavering support over the years.
"I hope My Hero lives on (I think there's going to be DVD's) - and hopefully one day it will be re-formated somewhere.
It seems the double whammy of a new lead for the show - James Dreyfus - who, based on the ratings, did not appeal to the general public or the show's fan base, and the show's low ratings up against Channel 4's Big Brother were the reasons for the show's cancellation.
I'm sure every My Hero here will join me in thanking everyone involved in the show for bringing so much enjoyment down the years and we all look forward to seeing what Big Bear Films come up with next. This includes a new BBC2 comedy seriesin development called Mud, written by Ian Brown and James Hendrie (My Family, Home Again) and Me and Mr Bones, another new comndey by My Hero writer Katie Douglas, a prize-winning writer who has several original TV projects in development.

I just started watching this show as it took the place of AYBS? on BBCA and I have to say that it is bizarrely (is that a word?) hilarious!. The talking baby is a bit odd but I just love the characters! I just watched the eppy today where Mrs. Raven thinks Tyler is the superhero.. too funny!! .. I look forward to seeing more.

I like it, or rather I like Ardal and the evil, vile, witch Mrs Raven. :twisted:She makes the show.

Tyler would be a cool neighbor to have across the hall!
Its a shame its being axed, I loved it with Ardel, not so much with James, I preferred him as Goody in The Thin Blue Line

Mrs. Raven is great, she's so entertaining. And Ardal has clueless down to a science :D
Shame it went downhill after Ollie's birth. At that point, it just became too cartoonish.
