I don't think I've seena thread here about them, so I thought that I should make one :D
I love them together. They really seemed like good friends. They even spend time together on their spare time. I love when one of them make jokes about the other guys, often Mr Lucas, if it's Mr Humphries who makes the joke, smiles at the joke. Same with if Mr Lucas makes jokes and Mr Humphries smiles. I find that sweet. I also think it's the actors who have a hard time not to smile or laugh
One example is in German week, when Mr Humphries tells Miss Brahms that his slippers are in the oven(which is on), look at Mr Lucas there at that moment. He looks down and smiles. I think that was mostly Trevor, hehe
Edit:
Here's the little smile that I was talking about

And here's from Top Hats And Tails when Mr Humphries says to Captain Peacock that he's innocent of all charges, look at Mr Lucas/Trevor there

I think they make a good pair. They're different in so many ways, yet they just seem to "go together" well. They joke around with each other, and when one is in trouble (usually Mr. Lucas), they support each other. Mr. Lucas was definitely surprised by some of Mr. Humphries' activities and friends, but he always had the attitude of "to each their own."

I love the look of shock they share in Dear Sexy Knickers when Betty reads the note.

Yes, I agree. He didn't seem to judge him, I have always liked that

It's the only heterosexual guy/homosexual guy friendship I've ever seen in sitcom-land, unless someone can name another.
That notwithstanding, I like the line in The Junior when Lucas is angling to get a promotion:
Mr. Lucas: And I hope that Mr. Humphries doesn't allow the fact that I'm his best friend influence his decision.
Mr. Humphries: You're not, and I won't!

they are very cute, and im sure if Lucas decided to "hop to the other side" Humphries would be the first to say "I'm Free!" X33

What I like about the Humphries/Lucas duo is that they were so very believable as two co-workers joking around, covering for each other, and just trying to get through the day. They made you forget they were actors playing a part. They were obviously very relaxed with each other and it showed. When Trevor Bannister left the show they lost that natural comraderie. A real shame.

yea, I know what you mean. it just wasn't the same duo with mr spooner.

Also you could tell that Trevor and John genuinly liked each other and where friends. I think that's what made Mr Humphries and Mr Lucas's scenes good

There were times that Lucas gave Humphries that "OMG" look but Lucas did seem to accept Humphries for what make Humphries, Humphries ....
:brahmhead1: "That don't sound right do it ?"
I always loved Lucas and Humphries together myself. They are my favorite wallie subject.

It's too bad the two of them never did a spin-off sitcom, like an Odd Couple-type show. I can see Mr. Humphries in his face cream and Japanese bathrobe trying to sleep with Mr. Lucas and a young woman laughing and chasing each other around the apartment. Not to mention seeing Mr. Lucas trying to figure-out what was going on with some of the parties Mr. Humphries would have thrown.

I actually could never see Mr Humphries trying to sleep with Mr Lucas. And it doesn't have anything to do with what he is or isn't. He just doesn't seem like the aggressive type of guy when it comes to that sort of things, hehe. And I actually wouldn't want to see it anyway, it's not them. But I do wish Trevor had been in Are You Being Served Again? Would ahve been wonderful to see them act together again
I think I'm gonna make a video with them like the ones I've done before, but without music because I just can't find a fitting song, hehe

LOL... he wasn't saying that Mr. Humphries was trying to sleep with Mr. Lucas! He was saying there would be two situations occuring at the same time. Mr. Humphries in his face cream and Japanese bathrobe trying to sleep AND Mr. Lucas and a young woman laughing and chasing each other around the apartment.
Amazing how changing one word can give an entirely new meaning!!

Wow. Thanks for clearing that up, Melchett! You're right; I meant two different situations going on at the same time. Mr. Humphries living his life while Mr. Lucas lived his. Two very different lives in the same apartment....

I think it was mostly my fault because I didn't fully read everything correctly. I'm a skimmer, hehe

i've always loved the way they were with each other, no matter what the situation was. some of my favourite examples are:
in happy returns, when miss brahms and mr humphries are in the canteen, and she says she not sit next to mr lucas because of the bottom-pinching, so mr humphries says he'll sit next to him.
in both the film and fire practice, with the arabs.
in diamonds are a mans best friend, when mr lucas is caught with his feet between captain peacocks, and they make up the lumbago cover story.
and, of course, the dance at the end of german week.
there are so many more, but they are the ones ive seen most recently, so they're the first ones that come to mind.

Ithought they had great chemistry on the show. I never thought it was the same show after Trevor left. Nothing against Mike Berry, but it just wasn't the same for me.

I agree. I know I'm in the minority since alot of fans seems to hate Mr Spooner, but I rather liked him. And I thought his scenes with Mr Humphries was pretty OK, but it wasn't the same. But I think it was good that they didn't have exacty the same dynamic because I think that would have been weird.

How about "You're my Best Friend" by Queen or the theme from Courtship of Eddys Father (People let me tell you 'bout my best friend) or "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne Warwick and friends.
Lucas was the man!

It's not that people 'hated' spooner. They just got so used to Lucas, it was hard to see a replacement. Anybody who would have replaced Trevor would have gotten the same blah reception. It just wasn't the same.
Trevor is also vastly more talented as an actor anyway, so it was a letdown when the brought in more of a goofy character than a part of the group.
