Sad to say that the BBC are reporting the death of Wendy Richard.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7912668.stm

Former EastEnders actress Wendy Richard has died aged 65, her agent has confirmed.
The star, who played Pauline Fowler in the BBC One soap opera, had been suffering from cancer.
Her agent Kevin Francis said: "She was incredibly brave and retained her sense of humour right to the end."
Last October, Richard revealed she had an aggressive, terminal form of cancer. Soon after that she married her long-term partner John Burns. <!-- E SF -->
In January, she was told the disease had spread to her right kidney and bones.
Francis said the star passed away in the Harley Street Clinic in London with her husband by her side.
The actress also appeared in sitcoms Are You Being Served?, Dad's Army and Grace & Favour.

My mother just texted me this very, very sad news.
I can't help but think, only four of the original main cast members are still alive now... when I watch AYBS I don't usually consider how old it actually is, but of course it was made over thirty years ago... too long to wrap my 18 y.o. brain around. And cast members will die... A very, very sad day.
I will go watch AYBS now, as a tribute to Wendy.
She will be sorely missed. :(

Sad news indeed... :-(

Just as I mentioned when John Inman passed, it feels to me like these actors are still the same age as their AYBS days. Whenever I pop in a VHS or DVD, it's like I'm transported back to the early 70's again and the world of Grace Brothers is alive and well. I always see them all in that setting. Sometimes it's difficult to know they are all getting on in years (we all are I guess). But there's always that security of knowing they are all just a video away.....

RIP Wendy. I'm babbling too much. I'll miss you. We all will.

Godspeed.

A sad day indeed. Wendy lended such a focused performance in Ms. Brahms....a great contribution to a stellar cast. While she may have been scripted for less than the rest of cast in regards to character developement....I think that fact in itself made us all realize just who Ms. Brahms was without have to learn it by way of the script.

If you have a copy of the OFFICIAL AYBS cast book....her publicity photos are ones to keep. A true deva of her generation.

Give our best to John Wendy.

I know that was because of the news about Wendy.

I think people always related to Wendy - she was a natural - and that she had a personal life that had problems (illnesses, poor marriages) maybe made seem more real too.

Of course it's far too early - but what a lot of entertainment she gave us.

This is the saddest news I've heard all day. From day 1, Wendy was my favourite castmember on Aybs? She brought such a fun character to the show and from her other work, her acting clearly stood out. I consider it a blessing to have been able to enjoy her works, and deep down I always wanted to meet her because she seemed like such an enchanting person. I quite honestly believe though that she is watching us from the heavens above, pain-free and with the other Aybs? friends that we've lost along the way.

R.I.P Wendy, we will never forget you girl.
