Hoorah for the Holidays
Mrs. Slocombe Expects
The Junior

Was any new linking material recorded for these? The Fawlty Towers records had Manuel describe the more visual stuff.

Not sure what you mean? I'm guessing you mean "extra" material?

Lots of times with these tv soundtracks, new voiceover material would be added to describe what was happening-- the visual stuff you can't see on the record.

Monty Python did this with the Drury Lane record, and with the movie soundtracks, as well. Also, I can recall a couple of Doctor Who stories on cassette, years ago, taken straight from the series that had new narration by Colin baker, helping to tell the story where pictures could not.

Cool.

It costs nearly as much to ship it as to buy it O_o And it's also not clear if they ship to the US, as they refer those wanting to ship items to the US to the BBC America shop...which doesn't carry the CD. Me thinks a note to customer service is in order--I'll let you know what I hear from them.

My guess would be that they might, but am honestly not sure. I'm sure you could email Customer Support and they can provide that kind of info.

Disheartening news from Customer Service:

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately, BBC Worldwide is subject to strict licensing laws
preventing the sale of products (without prior agreement) to other
countries. For this reason, we do not deal with deliveries outside the
EU here at the BBC Online shop.

I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
If you have any further problems or queries please do not hesitate to
contact us for further assistance.

Kind regards,

So unless you live in the EU, you can't order the audiobook...at least not from the BBC Shop.

Pity. I was ready to order a couple of copies and pay that shipping cost too.

Well, then it's not really BBC "Worldwide" is it? Maybe they should rename themselves to BBC Island Ltd., or BBC Up-The-Continent...

Wanda! I Wendy, I wondah, I.. wonder...

I wonder if this nonsense stems from the recent blanket licensing policy-- the new deal that allows shows like Doctor Who or, to a greater extent, The Young Ones to retain original music cuts on home video?
