I got a letter from Nicholas Smith, (Mr Rumbold), with a part stating the following he requested me to ask fans out there:
"I was also known as 'pilgrim'!! This is a mystifying piece of nonsense I am unable to understand!"
Anyone out there have an idea why that might be and help him solve the mystery?!
Thanks! :)

Known as a pilgrim when? Where? By whom? I'd love to try to figure this out, but I can't from what's there.

That's the mystery! :) He just stated the question as I've specified above.

According to the IMDB, Nicholas played a character in 1969 in a feature called 'A Walk with Love and Death'.
So....this very well could be where people are getting this name.
Maybe that helps??

That seems to make perfect sense. I've never seen the movie so I can't confirm the pilgrim bit.
However, the only problem is that I keep wondering of it could mean something outside of his career that he is referring to?

I think you're right - the fact that he plays a "pilgrim" in that movie might have led to it! Good catch!

When I googled Nicholas Smith I found 2 sites that referred to him as Nicholas Pilgrim Smith. One site stated that Nicholas Pilgrim Smith is his birthname. Pilgrim would be a cool middle name ...........

I also find him listed as Nicholas Crawford Smith. Hmmm.

I'll buy that too--it sounds plausible enough.

Here's something as promised...
Just got another letter from Nicholas Smith.
"Oh, That DOES Suit Madam!", you are absolutely correct in your answer. The "pilgrim" label was derived from the role he played in the John Houston movie 'A Walk with Love and Death'. He said that he played a phony pilgrim in that movie. :)
His middle name is John to clear up that aspect as well.
Thanks to all for helping us solve that mystery! He's really happy with finally knowing where that label came from! :)
