i wouldnt buy anything, the prices are quite steep in the eppys, even for 1970's standards.

:?Hmm... Given my 'winter weight' I'm not sure they carry my size! The last time I went into a posh department store, the snoot guy wouldn't even serve me because he knew they didn't carry anything over a 44 waist. The largest size I remember Mr. Humphries and Mr. Lucas quoting a customer was a 48 that was the next size larger than the 44s that were incorrectly marked 38. I doubt I could afford their made-to-measure suits.
:?However, on my only trip ever to London, I did drop £75 on a cardigan at Harrod's as a souvenir.
I guess it would depend on how good a job they did on my inside leg!;)

There actually was a "Grace Brothers" chain of stores in Australia, now rebranded (since 2004) as "Myer" (boring!)

http://www.myer.com.au/
However, they must have sold lots more than the fictional Grace Bros., as the real GB's was founded in 1885 and is still going! (Although under a different name.)

PS. Some years ago, my boss at the time gave me a shopping bag from the Australian Grace Brothers, which she'd brought back just for me. Unfortunately, I've moved 1000 miles since then, and the bag seems to have gone missing.

A number of the stores from my youth were British owned such as Woolworth's.One store in particular ,Bowrings, stands out.It was complete
with salespeople and floorwalkers who wore suits and ties. There was an elevator and the whole store had piped in elevator music.
When I first saw Are You Being Served ?,everything seemed so familiar
that it was funny. In actual fact, most of the storesin this area at that time were
founded by the British and as a result ,appeared as you see them on television.

Maybe a pair of blue Y fronts!
Then I might need some ladies hankerchiefs, so I'll need some time with Miss Brahms :D

I would never shop elsewhere if there was a Grace Brothers in my town! Not because the goods are so excellent obviously  but just so I could walk around with a GB shopping bag and hear Mr Humphries say 'I'm free!' :D

I don't think I'd buy anything, but I would just go there to hear Captain Peacock say: "Are you being served" :D

There are a lot of things I'd buy - a hat that does suits me, some pussy boots, a bow tie on an elastic band, a cashmere sweater, a silk scarf and walking stick, any item marked down as shop soiled, suede gloves, and last but not least - some knickers and knocker covers.
