I know I have mentioned to several of you about nephew (my husband's sister's son) who was critically injured in a motorcycle accident a week ago Sunday. I haven't been able to keep up with the updates for everyone. He was given a 0 chance of survival. Now, he is at a 50/50 chance of survival. I'm going to post a website that my niece's church started about Rodney (my nephew). There is a video on there of a news piece that was done about the accident. That will explain what happened. Sometimes it's rather difficult to keep going over and over what happened so if you would please watch the video, it will explain. In the video, you will see my niece, Angela, my sister in law (husband's sister) on the couch in between her two daughters (Rodney's sisters) Reyna and Rowana. Also, you will see my nephew's baby boy, Rodney III.

We were all so worried when he spent a year in Iraq. We never imagined that the biggest trial he would face would be right here at home.

Thanks everyone. He seems to be doing better. He is still at a 50/50 chance until two weeks after the accident which will be this Sunday. But right now he has developed pneumonia. So he is running a fever but seems to be fighting it off. For the past several days he has remembered what is going on. He still doesn't know just how bad he is. But he did ask for a Big Mac and the biggest Mountain Dew they could find. :D .. As of right now, he can't eat anything but they are hoping by Sunday or Monday he wil be able to. Things are looking up but there is still a very long way to go. That website is being worked on and will have daily updates posted.

Here is the latest email I received concerning Rodney. My comments are in black. I tried to explain who the people are so that you might have an understand as to who is who. I know it's hard when you have absolutely no idea who's doing the talking or who's being talked about. :)

From Angela (Rodney's wife),
Doctors called me last night and said that the surgery went well. It was longer than initially expected because the trauma team also went in while he was out and changed out the hip wound vacs and put a feeding tube down his nose. So I got the call at 12:40am. This morning mom and dad went to go see him. He was sleeping at 5:30am and they let him sleep. at 8:30am they were able to chat with him, share a devotion etc. He is still on C-pap and pretty swollen around the eyes. They put plates in below his eyes, above his eyes (his brows) and his cheek bones. The nurse said she was joking with him about that fact that he will never age... :) So he is still in high spirits. Still coughing up the pnmonia but that is getting better.

From Rodney's Mom Rebekah (my sister in law),
It's usually Angela and I going to the 5:30 am visit. But Dad's (my brother in law) been
driving. This morning at 5:30 am today, Ryan (my nephew - Rodney's younger brother - Ryan is the same age as my daughter) came with us. Now, that is
something!:) Reyna and Rowana (my nieces - Rodney's sisters) have been taking turns taking care of the baby.
We want Angela up and well. I am sure Angela misses her visits and Rodney
misses her bunches. He's been asking about the baby yesterday. He wrote
that he was at MRI for 2 hours! When we got there he was still in the hard
narrow bed waiting for his surgery. Bless his heart. Rodney was sober yesterday
but encouraged in the Lord. They told him that there is a possibility that he
won't regain his right eye vision. He is looking forward to talking again.
Pray that God will give him grace to accept everything in faith. Oh, I
can't even start to imagine what he went through in Iraq and then now. He
will be a precious vessel unto the Lord. Thanks for your part in encouraging
everyone to uplift and bathe them and Angela in prayer.

His whole face is swollen. I can't wait till the swelling goes down and
the pneumonia completely gone!

On the way out from the 8:30 am visit, my husband noticed 2 ladies huddled
together crying at the 5th floor ICU waiting room. He went over and talked to
them. Her name: Mary Brewster... Her grandaughter is in ICU. She hydroplaned
her car and hit a tree. They confirmed that she has brain damage last night.
She has 2 children. We prayed for her and promised that we will be praying
still. Would you mention her name when you email out the update so everyone can
pray for her and her family, too. Mary said if we don't find her there
again, that means she passed on.

My nephew is being moved to a non-critical unit!! My brother in law was able to talk to Rodney today on the phone. Rodney is in good spirits and still wants that Big Mac and the biggest Mt. Dew they can find. :goldie: .. I think he will be able to eat soon. :D

Thanks so much for all of your prayers and good wishes. I believe the website that I posted at the beginning of this thread has been completed and has some really nice pics of Rodney. :)
