View Full Version : Stupid Q: How to create moving avatars?

I see a number of people have created their own moving avatars here. I'm familiar with photo editing, but know nothing about video and animation.
Can anyone give me some tips on how they made their avatars? What programs do I need? What are the file type and size limits to use them here?

Let's start off by moving this in the proper area ...
For animations you need an animation shop type program. Once you get your hands on one of those then I can help you better.
I don't know if its any help, but in the past I have used the Advanced Gif animator - http://www.gif-animator.com/
I personally found it very quick and easy to use. :D

Sorry about the misdirected post!
I've downloaded a freeware animation program, Beneton Movie Gif, that seems to be easy to use. But how about the size limits and file types that work on this forum?

No problem with the misdirect. ;)
Somewhere in this department our Goddess of Moo, Minki, put up all that info. I'll see what I can find for you.
This is what is up at your User Control Panel ....
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller).
Your going to want to say your pictures in GIF file to make them a smaller file size.

Depends...what type of pictures are you looking at making move?
Moving avatars are GIF files, which are only 256 colors. So if you're going to use photo-type pictures, keep in mind that you'll have to downgrade the color so they may not be as sharp as the original pictures.

a picture from either aybs or aybs again? so whatever picture i find i have to make sure it is a GIF file and that it has 256 colors, something like the phot cpl.er... Capt. Joe has

To create a moving avatar you need a series of pictures not just one. Would be silly seeing the same picture change over and over again wouldn't it ?
Then you need a program that will help you build the gif. Some paint programs help you do it.
I'll tell you what ... check your PM's, I'll write you.

The page opened (a classic site in the world of AYBS?) but I need to know exactly what it is you're looking for in terms of building it.
