You guys are so lucky, it would probably be a once-in-a-lifetime thing. I wish it would happen in my lifetime, but it probably won't. Oh well, at least I can see them on tv anytime I want.

My father once met John le Mesurier (Sgt. Wilson in Dad's Army) in the early 70's but he didn't played in any episode of AYBS I think.

My father asked him who he was doing. Le Mesurier (my father has always rememberd this) wasn't interested in his own carreer, but asked my father what he was doing for a living and if he was married. My father remembers John as a very nice man.

Funny you should mention that Ronald, i've just been watching a profile of John Le Mesurier on the Dad's Army series 6 Dvd. Everyone remembers him as a very nice and charming man.

I loved the Sgt. Wilson caractar the most of Dad's Army and I was also very fond of the caracters of Sgt. Frazer (Where doomed, doomed) with his great big rolling eyes and the sweet elderly Mr. Charles Godfrey, who take care of the First Aid with the Walmington on See Home Guard. His frequent line was: "Can I be excused?"

(He wanted to spent an awful lot of penny's during the show)

Yes, Dad's Army is a true classic. Brilliant writing & great characters, i love the show :)

Pity most of the cast are no longer with us :(

I'm sure everybody already knows this, but Wendy Richard featured in a few episodes :D

1. Yes, it'a a true classic. Everything was allright, brilliant actors, brilliant lines and for all the difference in class between Capt. Mainwairing (was he a captain?) and Sgt. Wilson was very hiliarious.

2. Yes, James Beck (Private Walker) passed away during the shows, in 1973 I thought. I thought only Crpl. Jones and Private Pike, played by Clive Dunn and Ian Lavender are with us now, and also the Vicar (Frank Williams, I think he is a poof, but I never read that somewhere) and the Chief Warden Mr. Hodges (Bill Pertwee).

3. Yes, I thought Wendy played in a couple off episodes the girl-friend off Joe Walker (James Beck) but after he passed away I never saw her in Dad's Army again. (It was also after AYBS started broadcasting, so I think she didn't have much time as before. Also was Harold Bennett, Young Mr. Grace in AYBS and Mr. Bluett in Dad's Army not as much in Dad's Army after the start of AYBS).

You know alot about Dad's Army Ronald :thumb:

My favourite episode is 'Menace From The Deep' where they get marooned on the pier, and then a sea mine turns up

"Don't panic"

I don't remember the names of the episodes of Dad's Army, but I've seen theme all. One of my favorites is where the Walmington on Sea platoon hold a battle with the Eastgate platoon of Capt. Square.

First in this episode the platoon must be at a parade and the must show there medails. But... Capt Mainwaring doesn't had any medails.

Yes, that's right Ronald, the Captain has no medals so he tells everybody his uniform is at the cleaners

The epiosode is called 'Battle Of The Giants'

I had the one in a lifetime chance of meeting John Inman in 1999 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa of all places! :) Got a few autographed items and a picture with him. His stories and jokes were just hilarious and my stomach actually hurt from all the laughing! :) Very thoughtful man as well making sure that I could hear him from where he was standing since I'm hearing impaired.

Most of you know that Crystal and I went to John's Aladdin panto twice and got backstage with him and then asked to the cast party. I also met John once before in Boston at WBGH pledge drive. They never made so much in one night. The year before I met Mollie there. We had the chance to get aquainted because the powers that be set her on a stool near their sister station table (which was running repeats so no calls came in for me to answer), we had a lovely conversation which bloomed into a photo op, as well as several letters and photos swapped. She was like a dear Auntie. She was lovely.

I remember the one time Mollie had come to my local PBS station, that night the area was hit with a severe blizzard. Needless to say, eveything was cancelled, plus the station was about 50 miles from where I was anyway...so there went probably my one and only chance to have met her :(

Can add Nicholas Smith to my list of AYBS cast members I've met (AETN studios in Conway, Arkansas).

Same as Minki in terms of meeting both John and Nicholas! ;)

I met John Inman once, at a talk and book-signing in Michigan in the early 90s. He was very charming and funny.

ISTR he was wearing, for some reason, orange suede shoes! :?
