View Full Version : The "meanest" thing a staff member did ?

I agree Miss Macinthorpe. "Conduct Unbecoming" is one of my least favorite episodes because the treatment of Mr. Humphris is so mean-spirited.

Well, technically Lucas's remarks to Mrs. Slocombe could be considered mean, although it usually came across as good natured rather than mean spirited. Spooner appeared meaner somehow towards Mrs. Slocombe, or nastier.

I thought it was mean when Mr Spooner had the chance to be a pop star and they wouldn't give him time off to audition.
And along those same lines, I thought it was incredibly selfish and mean of the others to push themselves into Mr. Spooner's opportunity of becoming a pop star.

One I've always hated.
From "By Appointment" when Lucas first comes in with burnt feet then sneezes and Rumbold looks at him and "don't tell me you're getting a cold Mr. Lucas" like it was an inconvience to him. I would have told old Jugears to piss off.

I forgot the episode name, but it's the one where the staff had to come in early each day because Grace Brothers wanted to cater to the crowds who were on the way to work. The staff didn't like it, so they intentionally upset the Customers. That poor guy at the end who wanted to buy something was really insulted !!

That's a pretty mean thing to say, especially with women present, AND asking them to cook for you.
But it's a mean thing to say either way. Let's hope Captain Peacock doesn't really feel that way.

Of course he does because he's an misogynistic egomaniac. His opinion of women is a low one because of the way he thinks he can freely fondle them whenever he likes or that they are attracted to him to the point where they only want him for one thing.

John was a fan who used to frequent the older AYBS? forums, and who wrote AYBS? fan fiction with Grainger working at the counter but Tebbs as a secondary character working in Bathroom Fittings. I'm positive in one of his episodes someone mentioned Tebbs working at the men's counter, and Grainger muttered "Over my dead body."

Not wanting to spoil anyone's fun but... aren't they all fairly selfish characters and mean most of the time? They all say things we would never say to workmates.
My God, the things I say to my workmates could never be broadcast.

I thought when watching Lost and Found today that Mr Spooner was very mean indeed to Mrs Slocombe when she'd lost Tiddles.

:spoonerhead:I used to play with a cat-apult!
Not to mention Mr Rumbold's puns in Mrs Slocombe Expects. An au purr girl, an impussibility, a catastrophe... I did think it was funny but also rather mean!

I'd be more worried about the filth that comes out of the other end.

How about how they housed the staff during the quaranteen in "Is It Catching?"
Not only was it mean, but probably highly illegal! No separate quarters for men and women, personal belonging burned, locked in a room with no safe fire exit...

Between the choices of the whole of the staff putting backwash in coffee I'm drinking or mixing gin in a perfume bottle (which was empty btw) I'll gladly take the perfume bottle.
