I remember in the episode "Our Figures are Slipping", Peacock tells the Glen Check (did I get that right?) customer that it is not they're policy to refund. But in the episode "The Hero", they are very happy to give back the customer their money.

So, at some point, did they change their policy on refunds?

I always figured that was Goldberg being sarcastic to the grumpy customer.
You know how the writers of the show sucked at continuity.

They don't give refunds, the give store credit so they can keep your money, except in that one eppy where lucas promised a refund to a customer and thus grainger had to ring down, at which time he almost had a heart attack

An offer of refund was sometimes given but it was A LIE...A LIE. :lol:Actually in one ep, Miss Brahms says to a customer that if she's not satisfied with an item she can bring it back for a full refund. "You won't GET it....but...." I also remember other discrepencies with refunds/returns but specifics I can't provide at this time. When and if I remember them, I'll put them up. Wasn't there a guy with a shrunk sweater who demanded a refund and Humphries said the label hadn't shrunk so no refund? This may be a good place to discuss all the other painfully disappointed customers trying to bring back their GB items.

The shrunk sweater was a woman who slocombe said to compare the labels and they hadn't shrunk.

One customer came in with two different sized socks. When he washed them - one of them stretched three sizes bigger. I believe Mr. Goldberg said he'd give him his money back only on one sock!!

I don't remember the shrunk label belonging to a woman's sweter. I think OTF needs to watch a bunch of episodes so he can tell us the Episode's Title.

If I'm not mistaken, the shrunk sweater label was with Mrs. Slocombe and a lady customer. I believe it was Erotic Dreams of Mrs. Slocombe eppy.. thanks to my wonderful new friends (Diana and Agent 4711) I now have the complete set of AYBS? and have been watching them constantly. :D

Well done Goldie. I still feel a man had the same experience. Now I can watch a bunch of episodes.

In The Agent a male customer returns a sweater that has stretched way out of proportion. That must be what I was thinking of.

That's what I was referring to. I think he may have got his money back.

The Brit Store Marks and Spencer had a great refund policy . As long as you had the receipt they would take back anything no matter how long you had had it. They have since stopped doing that.

Guess they didn't find it cost effective to keep getting "returns" of empty toothpaste tubes and cans of deodorant!

Wallyworld used to be like that but have since changed their policies.

Didn't high-end department store Nordstrom have a policy like Marks and Spencer? The infamous story of a guy returning a tire (which they obviously don't sell) to the store and them giving him money back or credit or something?

I have heard that story too. Once when browsing at Nordstrom I spied some fancy looking saddle shoes on sale. Originally marked $3600 on sale for $1800. For a moment I thought it was $18.00:lol:

Besides Mr. Goldberg refunding money on one sock, the other refund I can remember was when Mr. Lucas had to refund the money to a customer whose wife didn't like his new suit. (Mr. Lucas had previously told the customer he could have his money back if he didn't like the suit.) I believe "ring down" was the term Mr. Lucas used when Mr. Grainger asked how much he was to ring up. Even in that case, Captain Peacock explained how it wasn't the store's policy to refund money but to rather give a credit note.

Miss Brahms has said to bring the article back in not completely satisfied then followed it up with "it won't do a bit of good".
