Ever wonder why there are no official episode names for Gaf(AYBSA)?
or if there are, why they are never displayed in the opening of the show?
Sometimes I lie away nights pondering these imponderables.

Minki came up with the best suggestion on this one. Seeing as the eppy's were taking place in an order (unlike AYBS?), sort of like on a daily basis, that's why they never had any names. We just make up our own here. Like...
To The Manor
The Cart
Mrs. Slocombe's Day In Court ect......

It could that they wanted the viewers to make up their own names since the shows could have more than one name when you really look at them. ;)

Maybe it was because they didn't have a lift at Millstone Manor. The best credits on AYBS were when the episode name came and went up or down like the lifts.

Millstone Manor did have a lift; it was broken though.

All of which illustrates what I was saying...now we couldn't have broken titles now could we?

I agree. The show was going in a great direction, pity it had to end.

What was the reason for it being cancelled anyway? They could have stoped production for a while then resumed it, or they could have made one last episode to wrap everything up.

According to Wendy, the viewing figures were not good and the BBC just didn't want to pick it up again. Wendy says in her autobio, page 167 that they were all pretty sad about the decision and enjoyed making AYBS? Again! very much. The BBC had other plans. And adding to this, Billy had died and his character was so integral to the show had it gone on.
Jeremy felt it would have been helpful if the BBC had run repeats, which initially had assisted in building up the audience for Are You Being Served?

I heard the ratings weren't the greatest but were slowly getting better as the show progressed. The head of BBC comedy at the time (who is no longer employed) pulled the plug on it much to the shock of everyone. This comes from one of the interviews but ask me which one and I couldn't tell you. I just remember seeing it on one of the DVDs.

The other title of Episode 03 in Series 01 should be Law & Disorder: SVU (Somerset Victims Unit).

It was very different. I wonder if it was because it was taken out of its original settings to cause the ratings to not be so good.
Having said that their ratings must have been okay to continue with a second series though. I always assumed that ratings tend to peak at around series 4, 5, 6, and 7 with most TV shows so it could have carried on.
