After watching series 6 and 7 when Mr Grainger left, I have noticed they seemed to change the head of menswear each season. Mr Tebbs one season, Mr Goldberg one season etc. How come?

What is your question? Why the ACTORS were not there or why the CHARACTERS were not there?

basically, they had a new head person every season after Grainger left. When Goldberg came in, they were having a farewell party for Tebbs in the next season

OK, the first replacement for Mr. Grainger was Mr. Tebbs (James Hayter)who after the 6th Season had a choice to make. Either continue on with AYBS? or stick with his old job as spokesman for "Kippling's Biscuits" in which he worked a day a year and collected a hefty paycheck. Kippling's thought that AYBS? was a little sorted and didn't want their spokesman being associated with a show like that. We know the decision he made.
Next up, Mr. Goldberg (Alfie Bass) is hired but wanted more air time then what the writers were giving him so he bolted.
Next up is Mr. Grossman (4 eppys) who from what I read "Didn't think the show and jokes were that good" so he left.
Mr. Klein (Benny Lee) then fills in for the final 4 shows of the Eighth Season. The only thing I can surmis for him leaving is that the writer just thought it was a good idea for Humphries to carry on with the counter with just a Junior.

I most heartily concur with you Sir Wibble.

OK, thanks. If it was me, I would have stayed for the full run.

Arthur Brough who played Mr Grainger died and was unable to complete the shows. The replacements were all not up to snuff to some degree and finally they had no Senior salesman.

I think some of it also had to do with the fact that David Croft didn't really want to continue after Season 8. Jeremy Lloyd took over all the writing for Season 9 and 10. Also coupled with the fact that Croft was sickly but got a "Producer" nod. If these two didn't know how long the show was going on then it was best to stick with the cast you had instead of adding to it.

Also, I had read somewhere that after Mrs. Brough had passed, I don't think Arthur's heart was in it anymore.

He died very shortly after she did. Which is much the way with elderly, devoted couples. His heart was broken and you can literally die of a broken heart.

She did and Arthur really didn't want to do Season 6 but Lloyd and Croft said they would wait till he came around. He never did then passed away.

In the show, did they ever explain why Grainger left? I have only seen up to and including series 7 and I thought maybe it was explained later.

No and personally I thought that was shite !!! Tebbs is on for one Season and he gets a send of (of sorts) in the next Season but nothing and I mean NOTHING was done for Grainger !!
