Another AYBS forum member mentioned that his PBS station yanked the show, and now mine has as well, so it seems.

My local PBS station, KLRU, has shown Saturday and Sunday night Britcoms for a number of years. However, after the most recent pledge drive about three weeks ago, nothing has really been the same. My three favorites, AYBS, The Thin Blue Line and My Hero, haven't returned since. Keeping up Appearances has also gone. Other non-British shows, none of them being comedies, have taken their places. The only two surviving Britcoms at the moment are As Time Goes by and The Last of the Summer Wine.

I sent an email to the view services area ealier tonight and hopefully I'll hear something back. I've been spoiled over the years by my weekend Britcoms, but maybe they just ran out of steam. I hope not! That seems to be when local viewers pledge the most money, given the comments by the pledge hosts. We'll have to see..... :(

Good luck, I hope you succeed in your efforts. But they can be difficult to persuade, can't they?

Dear VYMG...

I hope that they restore it for you... Channel 8 hasn't...in Houston..

We got lucky with our new PBS lineup here in San Antonio. We still have AYBS and "As Time Goes By," but lost "Vicar of Dibley" and "KUA."
I'm somewhat excited, however, because they've been replaced by "Yes, Minister" and "Summer Wine;" I've never seen either of those shows before.

At any rate, fight the good fight YMG and try to get AYBS back in your lineup. On your behalf, from down the corridor, I shout out, "We demand Britcoms!"

Honestly, say "Screw You PBS !!!!" and buy the DVD's. You'll always have them to watch whenever you want.

True Greg.

BTW, I sent four separate emails from four different email accounts, and my PBS station has yet to respond to one of them.

Frustrating. :x

That's because they are all on vacation with the "Brit Com" telethon money they raised.

Well, miracles never cease to exist!

Britcoms are now back on the air on my PBS station. Although AYBS is not there, the following are:

Keeping up Appearances
Chef
Vicar of Dibley
Fawlty Towers
As Time Goes By
Red Green (Canada)

I am happy to say the least!

All of those shows are good.

the unfortunate solution is to buy the dvds for your fave britcoms yourself.
But on the upside, you can watch them constantly like greg until you can
pretty much quote them as they play....

Dear VYMG.

For Austin's PBS station...5 out of 6 isn't bad...

15 years ago maybe 1-2 a month...And they were at 1 am. during the week. :?

Lucas has to go out and wake the chickens so I don't see why he'd worry about an early program time.
