View Full Version : Who was the most PAST IT?

OK, here's my second attempt to post, dunno what went wrong with the first. :?

Who was ready for the knackers yard? Whose brain left Grace Bros. long before their body? And who should've been handed the cuckoo clock and sent down the lift ASAP?

Whether someone is "past it" or not is really a personal opinion, isn't it, so interpret the question as you wish. :D

Also, I only included Mr. Golberg's name because YMG seemed to think he was past it, (Mr. Goldberg's brain was sharper than most, despite having the body of a 70 year old but when he was only 63 )

I didn't include Mr. Grossman or Mr. Klein because they didn't get enough screen time to really make that assessment. Instead, I put in the "other" option, so anyone can vote for whomever they darn well please ;)

And I think I'll do my vote and repost about it at a later time, as I don't fancy recreating that whole post right now. ;)

I chose Old Mr. Grace, though maybe it's just because I never liked him, lol.

Although Old Mr Grace seemed younger than Young Mr Grace I voted for Old Mr Grace.

Ok, I know I'll be sent off to Coventry for this but I don't really care ;)
I agree that OMG and YMG were the more "past it" in terms of age (and in YMG's case, he was losing it in the head as well.)

But I voted for Mr. Grainger. Because while, for the most part, both Mr. Grace's spent their time up in their office with their nurse/secretaries, the staff (and customers) had to put up with our Ernest everyday.

Now before you decide I should be banned from Haberdashery for 3 months or transferred to novelty candles to keep me out of mischief, I do like Mr. Grainger for his place as the "original" senior, and I think Arthur Brough did a fabulous job as the crotchety old salesman.

But despite that, and the fact that he was sometimes very funny and dear, most of the time, the actual character of Grainger got on my last nerve!!! Oh, how I wanted to trade places with Mr. Lucas in "Mrs. Slocombe Expects" when he told him, "Oh shut up, you silly old fool!"
I can't stand his rudeness, his atrocious table manners (especially eating his damn soup! Snorkel for Mr. Grainger, please) His having to have Mr. Humphries explain everything to him (even though sometimes it is funny,) etc.
So that's why I voted for him, because for the position he held, he really was getting too past it.
But I still (sometimes, like when you're asleep ;) ) love you, Mr. Grainger

Mr. Tebbs

Amen there too. :D

And that reminded me of what I forgot to say...if I were just voting for the one I didn't like the most(and who was past it,) Mr. Tebbs or maybe OMG would've got my vote, no problem.

Mr. Tebbs strutted in like he owned the place, and darned if he wasn't a soup-slurper as well.:b**ch:I thought manners were supposed to have been better in years past, for crying out loud. I know in some places soup slurping is a compliment to the chef, but considering it was Grace bros. nasty canteen, I hardly think that was the case!
Not to mention, he was rude to Mrs. Slocombe when though he didn't even know her, really.

I think they were trying to make him the 2nd coming of Ernest Grainger or something, rather that a completely different individual. Maybe that's why I liked the other post-Grainger seniors, but can't stand Mr. Tebbs.

I think Grainger had Tebbs beat in the "soup-slurping" and bad table manners department. I voted for whom I believe is THE creepiest character on a sitcom...Old Mr. Grace. We really need a "smilie" of him so we can throw wallpaper paste at it. :D

Nah, we just send you to the Pussy Shampoo Parlor to put in some hard time washing moggies :)

I went with OMG, though I was tempted to say Grainger too--he was great, but that last season was really his last season.

:graingerhead:I went with Grainger as being most past it. I liked Grainger more than the others on the list but in my understanding of past it he comes in first place. Anybody how is worried about being black listed by the LAHLA is past it in my books!

No one has yet answered "Other". I think some of the customers were Past It. Like the old lady that Lucas thought was Mrs. Peacock... "Blimey, the worry hasn't half aged her". lol
