Bit of a trivia quest here; I want to gather up the names of all Grace Bros. staff members ever mentioned on AYBS? and what we know about them. I'll start us off:
1. Comlozi, Miss. Cosmetics department. Snippy personality poorly concealed by friendly sales persona. Sells Mrs. Slocombe a bath kit in "Mrs. Slocombe, Senior Person". Sometime afterward sacked for being rude to a customer, as mentioned in "Monkey Business".
2. Hearst, Miss. Novelty candles department. Statuesque brunette raver, possibly from Olympia, popular among male staff; has invited many to "join the queue", including on many occasions Captain Peacock. Likes to help people, though not particularly the elderly. Participated in Holiday Girl competition in "Front Page Story". Mentioned in other episodes, I forget which.
3. Patel, Mr. Accounts department. Often mentioned, and finally seen in "The Agent" when demonstrating how the new paycheck system pays out. Sees Mr. Humphries dangling from a rope via the gents' room window but is too busy to do anything about it in "Sit Out". Mentioned in several other episodes, may have also been sacked in "Monkey Business" or else "Sweet Smell of Success".

Mr. Chamberlain from china and glass - "The Clock"

Mr. Bentoll. Who was mysteriously fired. But he had everyone denying EVERYTHING.
Mrs. Yardswick. Canteen Manageress and mother of a two year old who makes odd gestures when he wants to go to the potty. Her staff included a short ill tempered chef and a fish cooker, among a few others.
Madame Beryl. Who is a hair dresser. I think the beauty shop was in the store? Or was that the Peter Pan salon? I can't remember...oh well.
There was a Mr. Featherstone mentioned once, as well as the famous vinegary little spinster who briefly usurped Mrs. Slocombe's job....Miss Featherstone.

Madame Beryl worked in the "Continental Beauty Salon" in Grace Brothers.
Beryl is also the name Mr. Grainger asks for in "The Pilot" eppy. I always took it as the store operator at the switchboard.

After seeing Christmas Crackers and Father Christmas Affair this season I couldn't help noticing how much Mrs. Yardswick (Doremy Vernon) changes her appearance. From later episodes it is really quite remarkable. I didn't even recognize her in Christmas Crackers at first. MB

There was also Ginger, the lift operator.
Lucas called out her name when everyone was dancing during the closing credits.
was that episode the one with the 20's music--- something about a rooster and a hen?
or was it just a figment of my imagination...perhaps an underdone potato or a piece of cheese?

I thought this was in the episode "Coffee Morning" and it was Mr. Herbert of Hardware.
Capt. Peacock: "Mr. Grainger, Mr. Lucas, Mr. Humphries (very unusual that Peacock named Lucas before Humphries), a quick word before we go to lunch?"
Mr. Grainger: "I hope it won't take long, otherwise Mr. Herbert of Hardware will pinch my seat."
Mr. Humphries: "Some people have all the luck."

The Mr. Featherstone mystery is FINALLY solved !!!!!!
Last night while sleeping I awoke during the beginning of "Heir Apparent" to hear the mention of our Mr. Featherstone !!! He was the one that got the employee of the month (or whatever it is) and got one of those little plastic cups that he sneezed on and it blew into the fire.
Mystery solved !!!! And to all those that thought I was making it up....http://lordgreg.minki.net/tfs.gif

We also had 3 Graingers, Greg.
Of course, the one and only: Mr. Ernest Grainger.
Further there was: Mrs. Grainger (in The Clock)
And also mentioned (by Mrs. Humphries) in the episodes where Old Mr. Grace thought that he was the father of Mr. Humphries was Annie Grainger.

OK, but I don't think that Mrs. Grainger wasn't that pleased about her Ernest when he put a girl into the Club.
Was the child of Mr. Grainger and that girl from habadashery ever born?

Interesting question.... Would have made a good eppy of GAF when the child comes looking for the staff to find her Dad because he/she has no idea that Ernest dies....
