Favorite Episode From Season 2

The winner from Season one was 1.3 - Mrs. Slocombe's trail.

1. Mrs. Slocombe's pussy, Tiddles, gets gummed up. A gun discovered by Captain Peacock brings the riot police to Millstone Manor where the criminal records of such notorious characters as "Knuckles Rumbold" are revealed. (7)

2. The staff organize a cricket match against the townspeople. The match is marred by the jealousy of Malcolm Heathcliff, who sees Mr. Humphries as a competitor for Mavis' affections. The highlights of the match is a fantastic dive by Mrs. Slocombe and a winning stroke of Mr. Humphries. (8)

3. Mrs. Slocombe's long-lost husband pays an unexpected visit after an absence of 42 years, forcing Mrs. Slocombe into hiding. When the staff find that he intends to purchase the hotel, they temporarily expand the staff to make the idea seem unprofitable. (9)

4. Mr. Rumbold, Mrs. Slocombe, Mr. Humphries and Miss Brahms plant potatoes. Captain Peacock removes a petrified pussy from a niche in the attic, precipitating a series of supernatural events. (10)

5. A Mongolian tour group gets a cultural extravaganza from the staff at Millstone Manor. The high point of their visit occurs on the presentation of the ballet by Mr. "Sergei" Humphries and Miss "Natasha" Lovelock. (11)

6. After Mr. Rumbold complains that he gets no respect, the staff vote to share authority democratically. The staff play darts against the local team at the village pub. Captain Peacock leads a commando raid to rescue a flock of sheep. (12)

This choice was much easier. While I truely love everyepisode except the Mongolian one, my favorite by far is the one where Cecil S. attempts to buy the Manor. There are many great moments in this episode for me. It begins with Humphries and Mavis discussing the picture with the old staff and having a good cry - blaming it on the onions. It continues with Mrs Slocombe pretending to be Maurice's wife (Oh, aarr, Oh aarrr). The explanation of how there were 2 Rosie Bells (twins that didn't look alike because they were born at different times) never fails to crack me up. But I especially love it when Humphries plays the part of "not quite right" Jed. (I'm flabergasted!) I always loved Humphries in that role, but was especially intrigued to find out that John had played a siimilar role much earlier in his career on another show.

I had to vote for the final episode, when the group goes to the pub for the dart match. I liked many of the lines in this episode.

I thought it was "Trial" as well. That would make more sense as she is having a court trial. However, the horse cart ran away down a "Trail", so who knows.

I clarified this in another thread so we'd avoid confusion between Mrs. S's "trial" and "trail". The word needed, in this case, is indeed "trial." I am not dyslexic, but often mix up my letters when I type. Let's afford the same courtesy to someone else...it's a typo. The circumstances of the typo are unimportant. Now when I see "Harmon" or "Slocum" that's when I go off the wall!! LOL !! :wink:

I think the runner up for me would be episode 2.3 - Mrs. Slocombe's ex-husband visits the Manor. That one got me laughing a lot, seeing Mrs.Slocombe dress as Mrs.Moulterd and doing the "ohhs and ahhs" :lol:
