Does anyone remember seeing this classic sitcom? It aired in the late 70's and starred Arthur Lowe.

The setting of the show was in 1950 (I believe) at a parish called St. Jude's. Lowe played the hilarious Father Duddleswell and Daniel Abineri was his assistant. This show had witty dialogue and an old-fashioned charm to it. I'm glad it was recently released on DVD and hope to obtain it in the next couple of weeks.

Highly recommended!

Yup, I've seen this one ... I think it aired on my PBS station a couple of years ago. I watched about 10 epidsodes before it was taken off the air, but I enjoyed it. 8)

I heard that two or three of the episodes on the DVD set never aired. Do you know if there's any truth to that?

Chances are I would like this one !!!! I have this "religious" thing going on of late, can't explain it though...... I love Father Ted and VOD. Would probably like Ballykissangel if I ever saw it.

Got one ep under my belt. So far slow, but ....cute. Will give it more of a chance when I have time.

This show was funny with Arthur Lowe part Priest part con-artist! My favorite character on the show was the doctor who could take a drink of whiskey with his cigarette still in the corner of his mouth and he didn't put it out! Oh and Mrs Pring was pretty funny too the way she always got the better of Father D.

I liked this show as well.

Especially the episode with the pig farmer next door. The Father had the pig kidnapped and sent away in an attempt to get rid of the smell being caused. In the end, the pig accidentally died and he was taken to court by the pig farmer. If I remember correctly, the Father won the case.

It was a terribly funny episode.

I just got the "Father Ted" DVDs and "Bless me Father" sound good also!

I just realized that I have AND watched this whole series last year. Good show but nothing I would watch repeatedly.
