I watched several episode of That's My Boy on Nebraska Public Television many years back. I enjoyed it very much.

I'm always looking for new Brit-Coms, but I've never heard of this. Is this a good one?

I think die-hard Mollie fans would enjoy seeing her in this role. Is it a great sit-com? Not particularly. But it's enjoyable.

Oh I love Mollie in this one. It also has the bitch customer from "Mrs. Slocombe Expects" Jennifer Lonsdale in it as her employer. One of the the AYBS? customers Tim Barrett (Two fur coats, one for his wife and one for a "friend") also plays in it as one of the heads of employment agency.

Shame it ain't Region 2! So I guess this was Mollie's 'Odd Man Out'...

If you mean in the sense that it was a step out from AYBS? the answer would be "yes" but not in the sense that the show was a failure because this show was popular enough to run for about 4 or 5 years.

Ginger, what I've done is gotten a second DVD drive for my computer (read only run $25, burners about $50), and set it to Region 2 just for watching foreign DVDs that my sister sends home. It's something you could do in reverse if you plan to watch a lot of Region 1 stuff.

You're limited to how many times you can set that before it goes to the point of no return i.e. defaults to whatever region you're sitting in.

That's why you get the second drive: so it doesn't have to be changed and can remain that way while you still have your original drive at region default :)

The limit is 5 changes (not back-forth changes, but any change) if you do change it...after 5 changes, it can't be changed unless you return it to the company for resetting. Ask me how I know ;)

Getting sneaky aren't you? Whatever happened to buying a multi-DVD player that allows you to view multiple formats?! ;-)

Eh, I'm no sneakier than you ;)

A 2nd DVD drive for the computer is much easier to find than a region-free DVD player, plus it's a LOT cheaper. :) And it's also utilitarian if you get the burner, as burning computer files to disc is not region-restricted. So you can use it like a regular DVD burner even if it's set off-region.

Good for you, Minki. Genius!

I agree with genius!! :)

I'm sneaky? I never even thought of doing what you did in terms of getting another DVD with the computer to address the problem. I get many videos from my family overseas too and I ended up buying the multi-DVD player to be able to watch the videos more often than when I could only do it on the computer. You can get them for $50-$100 believe it or not-just as much as you paid for one for your computer.

I also have the VHS version multiformat player/recorder- so if anyone happens to have any non-commercial video they need converted let me know. I can do that for a small fee.
