I experienced something really cool yesterday that is actually Aybs? related. I went to a Scottish Carousel yesterday as that is part of my roots and it was so cool! During the first hour there, they were doing cool dances, and they got to the Gay Gordon, which I remember Mr.Humphries mentioning once. Anyways, they announced that they were going to take random teens from the audience to dance with the pros, and I got selected! (There wasn't a lot of us to choose from, lol.) I am proud to announce that I danced terribly, but I had so much fun knocking into other people, everybody was laughing. Haha, at least I kind of know how to do it now. Just thought I would share this funny story!

So what kinds of dances do you guys like? Any cultural background dancing that anyone wants to share? I'm sure we would all love to hear about it!

Dance? umph, I can just about stand up straight

I haven't "danced" since doing social dancing at secondary school-and that was compulsary. We did the Gay Gordons there too-and used to see how many times we could kick each other without the teacher going spare . Ooh, I tell a lie, I was mortified at "The Grand old Opry" (scary place in Glasgow-filled with weird Glaswegians who dress as cowboys etc) about 8 years ago when a "Cowboy" asked me to dance-but that was because I'd been oggling him-hehehehehe God, I was stupid.

I can boogie down when I want to. To me, dancing was always (children, cover your ears) like making whoopie standing up. *note* Women... if a man can't dance, he ain't worth taking out !!!!!

To come and think of it, I've never been to a high school dance before. They are always so lame. Nobody ends up dancing, and the music is just plain cra**y (punk-rap-today-music) that I hate. It is so blaring loud that you have to shout to be heard, and it is just a waste of time. Now if they had disco/techno/80s dance nites, call me! I'll be there.

Pamela I've actaully seen that place on Television a couple of times. Looked like a fun place. My sister taught me the 'Swing' dance many moons ago when it was Rock N' Roll, Country Music has gone way beyond even that. I'm sure I wouldn't be caught dancing there. Sharing a drink with a young lady might be more my cup of tea. i used to do a mean Fox trot and a few other steps. When I was younger I even danced with grown up ladies who thought I was pretty good. Once I danced with my first Mom-In-Law. She must have had very short arms because she held me very close.

I think roller discos should be more popular than they are these days!!!

I can only dance when I'm drunk and then I think I just dance like Chandler! So not good.

If you are from the UK you'll know the dance to The Birdie Song!!! That's always fun!!!!! Or doing the moves to Black lace's Agadoo or Superman!!! School disco alert!!!

We had a skating rink where I grew up and believe it or not, it's still there. All night skates on Saturday night... ahh the fun.

Haven't been there in a year or two but I still love to skate. I was a whizz in my younger years. We used to go out on the floor in three's and syncronize the skating with each other. We would lock hands and I was always in the middle and the two people on the end would pull tight and I'd flip around. What larks !!!! I miss them days.... :(
