I was wondering, how do they decide on which person will be on the front cover of the DVDs? I believe, whoever is on the front has alot of great stuff in that season. Series 5 comes out in Australia in June with pretty Miss Brahms on the cover, so I believe she has lots of great stuff to do.

IMO...Miss Brahms never had a lot of "great stuff to do" which is very unfortunate but that's the way the mop flopped. I never paid much attention to who's "Gracing" the covers of my DVD's but I hope all the players got equal time on the jackets for the DVDs. Maybe some ambitious poster here can tell you how many cases had how many pics of each character. I don't get into that stuff. Who's got that kinda time!  :campingin:

Just simply doing it by actor not by content. Lucas was the main star when the show first started but he got stuck on disc #6. I beleive he got that spot because Mollie, John, Frank and Wendy were there for the whole of the series. Arthur probably got #5 because he passed away.
What I want to know is why when the Christmas DVD was released last year (or the year before... time what a trip) was the #4 on the binding ????

I have the entire set and they are covered by
1 Mollie in hair {from The Agent I think}
2 John (on the telephone pose)
3 Wendy in profile
4 Frank smiling (rarity)
5 Arthur Brough looking cross
6 Trevor in profile
7 Harold glancing up
8 John in Highland gear
9 Wendy with her hair up
10 Nicholas looking confused (what else is new?)
11 Arthur English
12 Mollie in Welsh mining gear
13 Frank as Prince Philip
14 John as Annie

I know that different countries have diiferent covers, but that's what we got here in the midwest.

I think the UK has the same covers as we do.

Season 6 has been out in Australia a while and it has Mr. humphries with a tape measure wrapped around him and the cast standing in a top hat.
Season 7 is comming out in a few days with Mrs. Slocombe on the cover and a revised rating (M15+)

That's weird. The ABC Shop Website shows PG.

In response to Adam, I think ABC hasn't recieved the revised ratings, FreeTV Australia (or whatever it's called) revised it in the end because Mrs. Slocombes pussy jokes became more *cough* suggestive

There was the British comedy series last year with Russell Gilbert last year in australia - they showed an episode of AYBS, Some mothers, On the buses and Benny Hill, and it was labelled as PG (parental guidence) at 6.30pm on a saturday night

Great Comedy Classics was PG because we only got up to half way through season 4 and C7 also ended up cutting episodes to make them more politically correct.

Just read this

IMO...Miss Brahms never had a lot of "great stuff to do" which is very unfortunate but that's the way the mop flopped.

Miss Brahms had a few good things to do. In seasons 5-10 she had a few good lines, there were very little, but they were funny.

Hear, hear. (Or is that "here, here"? I keep getting it confused.)

According to the second (1989) edition of the Oxford English Dictionary, vol. VII, p. 58:

"The imperative hear!, now usually repeated, hear! hear! (formerly hear him! hear him!) is used as an exclamation to call attention to a speaker's words, and hence has become a general expression of approbation or 'cheering'."

Gotta love those single quotes around 'cheering.' ;)
